I am not a co-owner. He asked me to help and I am helping. Software was his idea but I have contributed significantly to its maturity, practicality and refined (and of course, impletemed all of) it. I have helped him through troubled times from my personal and family time with no compensation. I certainly undersand that I am replaceable. But he should honor my commitment to the project and the fact that I single-handedly coded the whole project and currently there are 5 major clients for us. I helped launch systems for all 5 of them. We have others in pipeline. He operated throuh his money and now he IS getting a paycheck.

Can someone suggest how much equity should I ask for in an IT product company for which I am the only developer and support person. I design, develop the s/w and provide implementation on client side and also provide support for it on an as needed basis. I'll also contribute to the overall vision and strategic placement of the product. There is only one other person involved and that person is the owner of the company. He does the marketing, sales, legal and all other activities. This guy is very passionate about the project and so am I. I just want to make sure when the project hits off and revenues start coming in he does not ditch me and reap of all the benefits himself and lauch a full-blown IT department without including me, etc. Should it even be based on the equity or some sort of profit sharing. I was concerned as some inspirons support a max of 2GB. Also, is the L2 cache important? 2MB vs 4MB?

Also, is upgrade in L2 worth it? Going from 2MB to 4MB??

What are the suggestions if I were to spend 2000 dollars? Also, how does the syncing part works between a desktop and a laptop? Do I need a specific software for that? Or will installing software and upgrades to desktop and laptop drive me crazy?

Please suggest a good configuration for a Dell laptop for VS2005 development with SQL Server 2005 database installed (XP Pro for now, maybe Vista later). Travelling is only 2-4% of the time, so battery life, being compact or weight do not matter. I just want a fast laptop that will work decently for the next couple of years. Please also let me know what components matter more over the other, dollar for dollar. Budget is upto $1200. I'll never game on it, no video editing stuff, strictly business. Thanks, Sam

What are the product versioning guidelines for an ASP.NET web site storing data in the database? I want the versioning to reflect what version the database is at and what version the product is at. In my product, database version and the dlls can be different. But they must look similar or close. Any pointers please. Thanks.
