How about placing the cleanup code in the same area as where the user is allowed to upload his files temporarily. Something like: 1) User wants to upload file. 2) check for any files that are older than "X" days and delete them 3) Continue with the upload logic This eliminates the need for creating a separate task that would run as a service or scheduled task. Just a thought. :cool:

You can also invoke shutdown.exe with the /l option. But I believe any logged on user gets a prompt saying that SYSTEM is trying to log off. I think is is so that any user can save his work prior to being logged off. SG Aham Brahmasmi!

I've had good success with having a Windows Service poll a database to get information on tasks to perform. It could use a Web Service to access the database. You can also define a custom action for the Windows Service that will allow the server to trigger the action of the client.

Check out NPOI[^]. It takes a little getting used to but it works extremely well. Aparently it can't do pivot tables and has problems with working with Excel templates that contain macros, and I've yet to figure out how to insert images into the header/footer - but otherwise it does everything and it's free! If you just want to use MySql.Data.dll, you can set "CopyLocal = true" in reference property. Then the MySql.Data.dll will be copied automatically to Debug or Release directory. You can distribute it. To connect to remote DB, then what you need is connectionstrings.
