It is a matter of who is at the head of the list. Normaly I would ignore this type of question because someone is probably doing something they should not. The last one to hook, is the first one to get any information that is sent. So if you think that they have hooked the program when it started then put in a delay and intiate your hook latter. P.S. the problem is with the resource type which shouldn't be put in quotes. The resource type should either be one of the default resource types(e.g. RT_STRING ) or it should be the result of calling MAKEINTRESOURCE macro

But look I've got the menu where different links shown for each user like Bob -> LInk 1 LInk 2 Charlie - > LInk3 Link4 All this is done by the menu And to provide a simple Tooltips on this menu I should refactor all the code done, Like conver sub-menus to list-views and display them in the proper pos is it the easiest way???

As far as I can tell, there's no way you can use the standard Tooltip control with the MenuItem. The options seem to be getting a third party control, or rolling your own ExtenderProvider control to do this.
