Correct but the last one is the only true permalink. The first could go to different alternates depending on the their sort order (recent, top rated). The second one will always transform to the third.

That's because that link refers to the specific alternate you're being navigated to. Try this instead: http://www.codeproject.com/Tips/107866/32-Bit-or-64-bit-OS.aspx[^]. This is the permalink to the original tip/trick. Notice the different ids in the URL.

Right. I think this is actually a common occurrence. We do often find the solution to our programming problems. The question is whether the OP chooses to update his/her question.

Yep we do have a couple tasks to help alleviate this common problem. But we don't want to hide the Add Answer button altogether. There are some legitimate cases of its use by the OP. Specifically we were planning to take the OP to the edit page of the question with a special notice at the top. From there they can choose to: 1. Do as we suggest and improve the question 2. Go back to the question view page and add a comment 3. Acknowledge that a new answer is actually want is intended and go ahead with it Another feature we're planning is the ability to demote answers to comments.

Sorry the description for General Forum Message Downvoted is incorrect. It should read similar to the Upvoted message: "The author of a message loses points due to their message being down-voted by another member". Will fix this shortly. FYI, those two reputation points are both from the perspective of the author. The voter's perspective is Vote General Forum Message Up. There is no counterpart to down-voting here meaning the voter doesn't gain or lose any points for this action.

Hmmm.. I think we explicitly decided not to do that because we didn't want items being popped up to the top of the list so easily and frequently. But I think that would provide value as well. I'll bring it up with the team and see what they think.
