Each application runs under some credentials. The ASP.NET application runs on a different user-account than the one that you use to log into your Windows machine. This is done to enhance security - the application doesn't need all those permissions that you have. The builtin ASP.NET[^] account is the one that runs the application. Creating a role in a database helps you to restrict access for objects in database. If you don't want that a user has access to a database at all, you'll manage database users. It's not good idea to read the file from other machine in ASP.NET. What you should do is that you should create the web service that can copy the file from a particular machine (e.g. PC4 in your case) and upload those files to the service at specific time. then, read those files from your ASP.NET. The machine where the sql sever is installed , there u gave the user name and password (unlike the window authentication)for ur sql server, Now check out ur connectionstring.I think , u did not mention the user name and passwod there. and on more thing , I think , the window authentication mode on the machine where the vs.net is installed has nothing to do withe the sql server(on another machine). so write the connectiionstring , keeping in mind the configuration of that machine where the sql server is installed.) You have a file on a network path at a client. Your web server is located remotely from the site, and doesn't have access to the network drive - so when you try and access the drive from the web server, no joy. What you might want to do is provide the path as a link on the page. When the client clicks the link, they should be able to access the network drive.
