I am not sure about the term "loading data" but it takes forever to execute the gridview.databind. I guess it takes forever to create the HTML code.

Either change the page, or change the contents once you have read the page. If you have other resources, like images, their addresses have to be changed also. Some resources won't work even if you supply a correct address, like javascript includes. There is no way that you can keep all functionality when you send the code of a page as a mail. Yes, you need to make sure that your parent custom control implement the INamingContainer interface so that it can route the postback event to the its child control MyLabel. Also, you should remember that you'd nomally override the Render method when you want to control the interface of the custom control, that's not where you create a child control which needs to process a post back event. Thanks for the tips. I will try your suggestions. I just want to comment that the behavior of C# reminds me applications with embedded languages and the end result is that there is memory leak period.
