If you're using the Excel PIAs then the _Workbook class has a ReadOnly property that's useful for determining if the file is a readonly file or if an instance of Excel already has the workbook open. Not sure if it can tell if it's locked by any other process, but it does know if it's locked by Excel.

Have a look at this link[^] From MSDN The problem was generated by Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0.2.621; even if it was disabled or closed, the exception still occured. Now I'm using Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0.1.411 and all works fine. Weird, and someone actually found a solution to it.

the problem is most probably related to ViewState ~ when controls are added dynamically to a page ~ then its viewstate is not saved ~ if you see the rendered html of the page, a hidden field __viewstate is present which stores the viewstate information of all the controls in the page ~ when controls are added dynamically , its viewstate information is not available ~ what can be done is after you add the textbox, try saving it in the StateBag ~ in the page load event ~ retrieve the textbox from the StateBag and add it in the same location again ~ you will find that when the control reaches your post back event handler the text in the text box is now available

Well, AFAIK, you can set the IDENTITY_INSERT ON and then let say your max ID is 10 so if you want to set it back to 1, set the seed to -9, and set the seed back to 1.
