Hi, 1. Tell me, when you created your report, did you use the dataset that you created, or did you connected directly to the database? 2. When creating the Dataset, dropping the tables from the database on the dataset, have you deleted the fill objects at the bottom of the table? 3. Have you created an instance of your dataset and fill the tables in the dataset with the code from the database? 4. Lastly you have to set the datasource for this report to the dataset instance that you created and filled. Let me know if you need assistance. I struggled myself with this in the beginning. Hi zari, the textbox (and all other input controls) must be embedded into a form. Only a form can post the user input to the server. You need something like that.I think, that you already have this form-Tag in your page. Just change the line "Controls.Add(c);" to "Form.Controls.Add(c);". Tom

Are you making use of the Crystal Report Wizard to create your report or are you creating your report in code? This you have to do in the report itself, since the viewer only do what it says: View. There is 2 solutions. You can either create a grouping for that field OR You can sort that field so that all that names are together then you format that field to tell him to suppress duplicates. That way you will see the name once.

You can put whatever data you like into a dataset, whether its from a database or any other source. It holds the data in memory. This means it can be used as a cache so that if the connection to the server is lost you can carry on working. But if you have a large database it's not practical to hold the entire thing in memory. You'll also come across concurrency problems if there are multiple people using datasets and then they try to put the data back into the database when its been down. Why would the server go down? The database should have redundancy so that it doesn't go down because its a vital part of the system.
