I agree. Very fortunate. He was Genius. Many moons ago (late 1970's and early 1980's, if memory serves), I implemented Warnock's hidden line elimination algorithm in a program at Grad school. It was designed to process very large CAD images with extreme detail using dynamic overlays and adaptive image partitioning (3D quad trees with pseudo recursion, written in Fortran). It ran on a Data General Eclipse mini-computer (and later on VAX under VMS). Sadly I'm just about done with GTA V. I've played it for years, my online character has over $2B, and I was down to just following a daily routine...I've accomplished pretty much everything there is to do in the game, including some personal goals I had set for myself (including surpassing my crew leader in terms of RPs). After I started playing Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA quickly fell to the wayside. These days if I launch the game, I get bored within 5 minutes.

I'll take just about any bet that VBA is still being used for a whole lot of "very critical" things.

Did you also set your priority among threads? Honestly, I find my best performance in C# using the Task Parallel Library[^], letting it decide threads versus tasks, priorities, etc.

I used Emacs on Lisp Machines, PDP 11-782, and a VAX 10. The PDP and VAX versions were outstanding.
