Not knowing anything about comparing two documents... could you designate a directory for it, copy the two documents into it, and then open a document which contains an auto run macro that will open the documents in that directory in compare mode?

Personally I would just change it a bit to show the 'page' with a tab at the top and then the shadowed pages behind it. Possibly add a small side icon to indicate if the pages where drive via a DB dip (ie: small DB barrel style icon overlay) or perhaps just multiple pages in the file system using a folder icon. I have been in search of a standard for diagramming stuff like this for years and to be honest, I don't think this is something that the developer community is ever going to settle on. Sadly it just seems like its parts of human nature simply because we all see things 'visually' different in your head, even when there is a written standard. Often times I have seen the best solution in these cases within an organization is to pick a software package to use based on the features and then just all agree to 'get over it' with regards to the disagreements of the visuals and just agree to disagree and move on. As a side note that is kind of funny here, I have actually had managers and engineers complain that the original design document only had 2 or 3 cascaded squares in the design picture, but the implementation actually called for maybe 5-6 tabs, and they felt that made the design inaccurate :) My key learning's as an architect over the years have been to focus on the 'idea', the 'requirements' and the environment, and try to not allow the design tools to drive the design itself. Be flexible there enough to make sense within the context of the group, but try to stay consistent within the organization itself. Established standards within the company are important, but the real value in design is simply to document the design, regardless of how the lines look. I do however always make post-implementation design review meetings to discuss what worked and what didn't as far as issues like these. It helps identify the need for change in design documentation style, content, and process. To me this is just typical of any well run development organizations continuous improvement process. The only problem I have encountered is the lack of 64bit shell extensions for utilities that I have become accustomed to accessing through context menus. There is supposed to be a workaround by setting explorer to start in 32bit, but I couldn't get it to work in the RC, which influenced my decision to stay with 32bit for the final version. I will move to 64bit eventually but not until I have found suitable 64 bit replacements for the utilities that I use the most through right-click.

It's been a year now and these are some of the issues of using Visual Studio on a netbook: - It's a great tool for fast implementations of concepts I'm seing in my courses. - The resolution it's not the best for projects that require you to use all the VS panels. Most of the time I kept all the panels hidden. - 2GB and Windows XP Professional SP3 seems to do the trick. I didn't tried the Windows 7 experience. I don't need it in this machine. Greetings, JuanD

I might not be able to tell you exactly open source project management tools. But, for resource monitoring and job monitoring you can do using normal MS excel. Excel is one fantastic application made by microsoft which helps you creating task, group them, you can nicely link them ( dependency of tasks ) apart from that its having excellent charts for undestanding. Another one application I believe that can be used for same project management purpose is Google spreadsheet. Its extra advantage is it provides you multiperson chat, you might need to have a meeting of all your resources and update at the same. This can be achived nicely by Google spreadheet. It also allows you to have version controlling mechanism which is also helpfull. ( who changes/updates what and when ) Thanks, Arindam D Tewary

To protect the "copy protection", no. What kind of "video cd"? Are we taking about something you can play in a standard DVD player? Or are we talking about a data CD with, say, Windows Media Player or Quicktime files on it? In either case, Google for "copy protection video" and you will probably find what you're looking for. I believe copy protection is the impossible dream. No matter what you use, it's already been broken.
