Shouldn't that be the other way around? Regards, Nish

EGA. VGA could do 80x50 From the Churchdown Parish Magazine: "Would the Congregation please note that the bowl at the back of the Church, labelled 'For The Sick,' is for monetary donations only."

1st Monitor: 1152x864 / 21in. CRT 2nd Monitor: 1024x768 / 17in. CRT I'd keep the resolution higher on the main monitor except my eye muscles have a bit of an easier time with that. And, having a higher scan rate is nice for my eyes also. The 2nd one I don't stare at nearly as much, so I tend to keep the resolution higher for its size anyway. Jeremy Falcon

I'm old and like to avoid wearing glasses. It's 800x600 on a 17" monitor for me. :) Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] Remember that in Texas, Gun Control is hitting what you aim at. [Richard Stringer] Nice sig! [Tim Deveaux on Matt Newman's sig with a quote from me]
Thank you for volunteering your relative age. I’m old also and need my glasses regardless of the resolution I set. I was going to ask about age but decided not to for fear of offending some people with the question. Thanks again for your reply. JR I'm on-line therefore I am. My boss was kind enough to set me up with a dual monitor display. For the 27" LCD on my left, I'm running natively at 1920x1200 (great for Visual Studio! :)). For the smaller 21" or so LCD on my right, I'm running at 1280x1024.

I might not even have to wear my glasses if I had a 27" that I was sitting 2 feet away from. I'm on-line therefore I am. JimmyRopes

I still remember myself learning programming in Borland Pascal and Borland C++ at this resolution. And what a big step forward from older Turbo Pascal was the syntax highlighting in the new IDE (of course, on the blue background). Those were the times... :) Rado

Me too. I was always having to switch resolution if I wanted comment on my work though because most of my classmates thought the short letters were borderline unreadable. One of my classmates got a copy of the new version of TP with syntax highlighting midway through my 1st programming class in HS. Like night and day.

unfortunately not. The CRT's 19"(18 visible), and supports a higher resolution than the newer flatpanel. IF I could I'd probably bump them both upto 2048x1536, dunno if my laptop's capable of driving anything that high even if I had the monitors.

Actually you don't need to ask my age. :) If you check my bio, I have my birthday on it and since it was just two days ago, I will happily volunteer that I'm 52 (and loving it). :-D Chris Meech I am Canadian. I think 80x43 was an IBMism called HGA for Hercules Graphic Adapter. But I could be wrong. Chris Meech I am Canadian. [heard in a local bar] Remember that in Texas, Gun Control is hitting what you aim at. [Richard Stringer] Nice sig! [Tim Deveaux on Matt Newman's sig with a quote from me]

I love showing it off :-). Wanna see it? You can catch a glimpse of it if you go to the company's spy cam[^]. (ActiveX web cam page, IE only, etc.) My office is camera 8, you can see the big 27"er in there.

Across three identical 19" LCD monitors (1280 x 1024 on each). In fact, every computer that I use day to day from development machines through laptops to servers all run at 1280 x 1024. I find it much easier to work when I know everything will be in the same place.
