    You really need to play on a PC to find these kind of games. The Lucasarts back-catalogue of 'Day of the Tentacle', 'Sam and Max hit the road' and 'Grim Fandago' and the rest of the Monkey Island games are well worth a look. There may be console ports of some of these but I'm not sure. Michael CP Blog [^] Development Blog [^]

    you beat me to it. DOT being my prefered one. You can even play Maniac Mansion inside DOT, so two games in one. ~RaGE();

      We have a PC and did the Monkeys, DOT (yoohooo Mr Tentacle guy!), Sam n Max, Dagger of Amon Ra, etc to death years ago and loved them. One of the best games was The Legacy - cracking game. It's the convenience of consoles with the large TV screen that is the key - we don't have the PC near enough to connect to the TV :( Thanks for the replies. I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

        Not official ports, but check out ScummVM if you've got a modded xbox and the PC originals to hand (or a dreamcast gathering dust in the attic, as that won't even need any kind of mod to boot the games of a CDR) http://www.scummvm.org/[^] -- Help me! Has anyone played similar games that they could recommend please? Personally looking forward to Black, out end of Feb. A straight up FPS, no co-op, no Xbox Live, no teams , just shooting and blowing things up - woooohoooooo! Xbox or PS2 options are both OK. Ta. For PC I would advise The Longest Yourney I *REALLY* loved this game (and am eagerly awaiting the sequel Dreamfall)

                  If you're gonna go PC stuff, try the Myst series.

                    Tried Myst on the PS2 - having expected some sort of inkling of what to do when we got dumped on an island it was a case of WTF! Yes, I had a similar case of WTF when I first played on a PC ... expecting something or someone to come out and give me a clue ... when I realized I would actually have to look around and think for myself, it was a rather enjoyable change up from "standard" gaming. After 30mins, I was hooked. I played the sequel: Riven and enjoyed it as well ... I have started and stopped Myst Exile twice, but haven't the time to get "involved" these days, as I once did ... But from what I've seen, it poses many challenges as well.

                            LOOM I actually recently replayed half of it on the PC using an emulator... Graphics sucks but it's oh so beautiful!
