The zip file contains no EULA information, and the MSDN page only says: You can use this set of over 1,000 images to create applications that look visually consistent with Microsoft software.

Image Library[^] Someone recently posted a question in the lounge regarding VS icons and where they might find them. Oddly enough, I was in a similar position today, and found, whilst digging about on the MSDN, the link above. Found it useful, the icons contained therein are just what I needed, at least, and thought I would share the information ...

Looks good - but only 16x16 and in PNG :-( It'll be hard work to put that into an .ico file that supports multiple color/size formats. But still good for people just looking for 16x16 icons. Regards, Nish

I didn't include this file when I installed VS 2005 Pro, as I assumed it would be the same set of icons/bitmaps that MS have shipped since the 90s (dated looking 16 colour versions).

Indeed. I think the focus of FamFamFam is for the web. While I can see the need for larger icons for the visually impaired and those people who don't know how to change the Folder View I have to say I never use any icons above 16x16. I always set my toolbars to the smallest icon size and Windows Explorer too. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

Oh, also, FamFamFam works on the cocaine principle. Give them a free taster and then charge them when they want more :) So if you want ICO format, 32x32 etc. then you contact the FamFamFam chap and pay for it. He surely has them in those formats and sizes already. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

I just ran VS 2005 Setup and installed them. Wow! Much, much nicer. I am also working on a new UI for a project of mine and these images will give me a good reason to finally add a high-colour toolbar. :)

Still, they are crisp, decent 16x16 icons, not 16x16 blobs of colors scaled-down from photorealistic 256x256 blobs of colors that don't deserve thew name iconic

Yup.. but with c# express you can get some icons and images: it's one of the bonus given with express editions and it's one of the main reasons because i downloaded c# express edition ;) By the way Here there are some links to icons' packages that I found around (maybe some of them in post read here :D).
