Anyone tried Microsoft Expression?

The Grand Canyon was breathtaking, no words or photos[^] can really capture it. I am glad I went just for that alone, a highlight in my life. Las Vegas itself was... I dislike being negative but the place is boring, tame and ugly. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even gamblers. I had a good time, no doubt, but that was because of the people I was with and met and could have happened in any city in the world. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! Hey guys, Have any of you tried Microsoft® Expression® Interactive Designer yet? What exactly does it do? Right now, I use Cider to create Xaml using a WYSIWYG designer. But Cider is closely bound to Visual Studio and is targeted to go along with C# and VB code-behind source files. I am hoping that Expression can be used to create language independent Xaml. [I mean just Xaml, with no associated source code file] So, anyone tried it out yet? If so, your feedback? Thanks. Regards, Nish

The Ultimate Grid - The #1 MFC grid out there!Expression Interactive Designer is very much for graphic designers. It is meant as a tool that designers use to create good UIs and experiences and then send their XAML to the developers to hook up the functionality (and vice versa.) AFAIK Cider can create just XAML too. regards, Paul Watson Ireland Feed Henry! K(arl) wrote: oh, and BTW, CHRISTIAN ISN'T A PARADOX, HE IS A TASMANIAN!

Yep, but it forces me to create a dummy C# project. :( Regards, Nish

Thanks Joshua - I may give it a try. Right now, Cider does not work with VC++ projects - such a pity! So I was looking for alternate ways to create Xaml. Only issue is EID is rather heavy - and I am not sure how expensive it will be when it's released. I wonder if it'll be included with MSDN subscription, now that would be cool :-) Regards, Nish

I beleive the download was under 10MB, though you are right - it requires a lot of memory.

If MS is smart (and they are) they will price it low (def. not more than flash costs) 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

Ah okay. I presume you mean white caucasians :-) Because Indians are classified under caucasians though it's not so in everyday English usage where caucasian usually refers to a white caucasian of European origin.

Woah - I didn't know - gotta give it a try then. Though I am half-worried it may mess up my WinFX installation. It took me a while to get the Dec CTP removed and to have the Feb CTP working okay. Regards, Nish

Makes sense to me.. all these tools are based on WPF so theres no need to deliver them before. I just wish MS would decouple their systems, and eliviate these interlocked dependancies. e.g. EID cant be released until winfx, vista cant be released until winfx, office 12 cant be released until vista. etc.. 60% of statistics are made up on the spot

I was going to post something about that but never did. On the other hand, I'd take everything you see/read/hear about XAML/Vista with a grain of salt. The Ultimate Grid - The #1 MFC grid out there! Also, lots of news about WPF/E[^]. Sounds like Microsoft is starting the big push to get platforms unified under XAML. In this[^] article, I'm amused how XAML is defined as a "page layout language ". Like I said in my other post, grains of salt. doNow that's odd. They probably had to leave it in though or it would have been a deflated event.
Overheard in clients: Question: "So country music doesn't make you want to get down and boogie?" Response: "No, it makes me want to clean off the bottom of my shoe." I just have to say that's about one of the best statements regarding country music I've ever heard.

Ah... I must have missed that. I've been quite busy this week and haven't had time to read or post much.

I've heard that. My parents and sister visited a couple of years ago. They took a flight out over the canyon. I really have to do that sometime.
Paul Watson wrote:

My dad thinks the same. My mother and sister have a different opinion - mind you my sister did end up on a date with the pilot that flew them over the grand canyon, and my mum suggests to go just to see how tacky tacky can get.
