Ubuntu does not have xmms(uses rhythmbox instead) and you need to download plugins to play mp3 and watch movies. this is the only downside.

        Installing additional packages means having internet with good bandwidth. Don't have that :( - बुरा जो देखण मै चला, बुरा न िमलया कोय, जो मन खोजा आपणा तो मुझसे बुरा न कोय। Translation

Absolutely. Been using 32- and 64-bit versions for a while now after jumping ship from SuSE as they didn't support my scanner. XMMS works fine, plays MP3s with no problem. Asynes yw brassa ages kwilkynyow.

Funny thing, when I installed it the wifi worked, after running updates, it doesnt... I think the module is not being loaded for some reason.

I think leppie's "cryptic linux commands" are just kind solution for having xmms on ubuntu, and are well known for every debian/ubuntu user ;) Did you try Knoppix? The all-in-one distribution livecd. I'm sure there's some way to install xmms without internet tough, just by downloading it and then apt-getting it ;))
