There is no traffic system so you can drive as you wish. Whoever got better horn gets faster. One hand on the wheel and other on horn. ;) But the traffic mortality is way less than any other country. On Other hand in US where they have best traffic system with all the gizmos but still they have high traffic mortality in the world. Part of that is because you have states like New Mexico that head up the highest accident rates per population (yet have lower population so scew the curve). I think we finally dropped out of the #1 spot, though I hear we still have the #1 spot for running over pedestrians. For ages we were in the top 10 for all of highest (per population) auto accidents, drunk driving, auto mortality, auto-striking pedestrians, and many other auto related categories. Before coming to US, I used to drive in India. Now after driving 7 years in US, I don't think I can drive easily in India !!!! -Madhu.

Precisely! :) I admit I wouldn't survive ten minutes driving in Bombay. After more than a quarter of a century of driving in the US, I get cold shivers when I'm a passenger in car in India. One method that would seem to be much better to fill seats up on aircraft is to fill up from the window seats to the aisle seats. That way you don't get someone in the aisle seat getting there first, sorting themselves out, sitting down then having to move to allow a passenger at the window seat in. That actually sort of happens when the seats are unassigned. It really slows down if the plane is full because the middle seats go last and then lots of people have to move out into the aisle at roughly the same time causing a log jam of the last people trying to get on board. Good idea except that couples wouldn't want to be boarding at different times. Mothers with children neither. You'd also get people hassling with the overhead storage, trying to get their bag next to their wife's/husband's etc.

Not as tough as you think. I am driving here in India after 10+ years in the US. I dont have problems driving in US/UK whenever I visit either. Its is weird how I can totally switch from being a maniac in India to a nice well behaved driver outside. :) And yes, low speeds keep the accident rates down.

Not as tough as you think. I am driving here in India after 10+ years in the US. I dont have problems driving in US/UK whenever I visit either.
