I believe there are no forever empire in the world, but what do you think would be the trigger that causes the collapse of US?

The moment we realize that we are in fact an empire.

If they don't control the increasing level of obesity amongst their citizens, the humongous collective weight might crack the Earth's crust around the North American region, and the land would collapse in by maybe 5-6 inches. Of course Canada and Mexico would also collapse in by about the same number of inches, since they are in the same region, and have pretty much the same density of fast food chains. Does that answer your question? Regards, Nish

[Jumps on Soapbox] It already has. The political system remains, but the foundation of beliefs in personal freedoms and little-to-no government intervention in daily lives has been dying for the last 75 years. We already have that. For the last 3 Presidential elections, we have had people blaming/giving credit to the President for job creation/loss, the state of the economy, and government spending. Anyone who paid attention in high school government class would realize that the President has next to no direct control over any of those issues, yet they were all big issues in the elections. And sadly, that is just the tip of the iceberg ... It was arrogance and a lack of respect. For our own citizens, of course - not all those other, less-important countries.

Yes sir... and the complete abandonment of the US Constitution since 1937, Thank you Roosevelt for forcing the New Deal through with threats of court stacking. Where is the association of states that have the power? Why is everything controlledc as "Regulating interstate commerce"? And go back to 1776 definitions of the words not the evolved meanings. Regulated means to make regular.

Some thoughts ... US Dollar is losing ground to other currencies. US Stock exchanges are under enormous pressure. Rising sea levels due to gradual vanishing ice caps. (New York flooded like Venice). San Andreas Fault causing Earthquake that destroys the American Semi-Conductor and Computing Industries. Caldera that is Yellowstone blows its top big-time.

Those industries left California a few years ago. Not because of earthquakes, but because California's business laws are completely absurd. For some things, yes. But their offices moved out of CA and into AZ, NM, OR, and WA for the most part. And many of the companies that jumped headlong into outsourcing are now realizing that some things can't be outsourced well without a huge drop in quality. Speaking of freedoms, the very freedoms that were fought for to create this country will be the very same ones that destroy it. :(

By "entitlment mentality", I assume you mean treating Uncle Sam like he is their long lost rich dad who happens to have a huge trust fund just for them? :P If you decide to become a software engineer, you are signing up to have a 1/2" piece of silicon tell you exactly how stupid you really are for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week Zac

most of the furniture and textile manufacturing jobs left NC in the past decade, and it had nothing to do with the laws: it's all about cheap labor. and of course, it's not just NC. but we got lots of office jobs... for now. but there's no reason we should doubt that someday, some other country will figure out how to do those jobs at acceptable levels of quality.
