I believe there are no forever empire in the world, but what do you think would be the trigger that causes the collapse of US?

People are allowing their freedom to be taken away, they will give up just about any rights if they are told it will make them "safer". We have already pretty much lost the fourth ammendment, they are working on the first and second ones. "Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined." - Patrick Henry

I was introduced to Chai, like many in the USA, through Starbucks and its kin (actually a small town college coffee shop while working early AM shifts)... which is the best thing that can be said about it. As I began collecting variations from brand to imports, I would definately agree. _________________________ Asu no koto o ieba, tenjo de nezumi ga warau. It would put the US in a disposition, for sure, but even worse, it would send many Middle East nations back to the Middle Ages.

Did you see Lawrence of Arabia? Without oil the middle east would again be a bunch of tribes running around on camels killing each other over water. My mom told me once that "while we all don't speak the same language, everyone in the world undestands an asskicking"

Yeah. I see I got voted down a bit for that; I didn't say that with derogatory intentions, just so everyone knows. Running out of oil would be bad for the oil-driven West as well as the oil-driven economies of the Middle East.

I would not call 1945-Present "a long time". As far as I'm concerned the USofA is not so much an empire by intent, but a provincial society being sucked into the vacuum left by the death of the colonial powers of the 19th and 20th centuries.

He also means that foreigners think they can walk in and with the assistance of the ACLU start changing our constitution. They do and are. Pretty soon the white, middle-aged American will be the minority and we will have no rights. It's called a non-hostile take-over and corporate greed will be what makes it all happen. The problem that will take out America is greed. Look at our debt, it's pretty obvious. Watch our currency keep dropping...

Greed is a problem, but the US doesn't have a lock on that market, it is a worldwide problem (always has been). The rest of the world actually needs the US to stay in debt. If we ever paid off our debt completely, we would probably let the rest of the world go to hell. Since we owe a few of them money, we have to help out (more than) occassionally. Interestingly enough, it is quite possible to lower taxes and decrease the national debt ... however, it requires that we put some congressmen in office that have brains and realize what their job is and is not. You know, I'd rather see programming questions in the Lounge than this tripe. Since you believe that no empire lasts forever, then a trigger is unnecessary. It's demise is inevitable. And besides what's 'collapse' mean or infer. The classic example of the British Empire is just that it's sphere of influence has been greatly reduced. Big deal. The quality of life within Great Britain sure hasn't suffered much since the decline. So what the empire collapsed? It sure deosn't mean that people in Great Britain are living back in the dark ages again. Chris Meech I am Canadian. Yeah. I see I got voted down a bit for that; I didn't say that with derogatory intentions, just so everyone knows. Running out of oil would be bad for the oil-driven West as well as the oil-driven economies of the Middle East.

but, we all know that the oil companies have small fusion devices hidden away ready to sell to the masses when that happens (no more oil)... ...of course you need special "cracked water" to run the devices, so you will still need to fill up at the local gas crater station :sigh: and at $3+ a cubic milliliter...they will still be making billions $$$ Steve
