What would you change?

I would book all the first class seats for all flights everywhere, and allow anyone who is a software developer to move from stinky cramped coach seats into the first class seats for free!

Techies enjoy a better standard of living than many, and we get paid to do what we enjoy. Still, most people have goals, dreams and desires of a better life, even if they don’t believe it’s possible to achieve them. If I got paid to teach what I got paid to program I would probably be a teacher. Beside imagine what I could do with the summer off! "Until the day of his death, no man can be sure of his courage" -- Jean Anouilh

I imagine that those two conditions work well together. You can keep avoiding the effort required to get a higher paying job and promotion, which should assuage your fear of getting a higher paying job and promotion!! :-D

I had this huge list, then I reread your question, what would make MY life better. A lot of things could have a minor impact on my life, but I'll ignore things that have a secondary effect. So, here's the shorter list, as I'm pretty happy with my life: My girlfriend has some health concerns that would be great if she didn't have. It doesn't necessarily impact my life, but my first concern is with her well being. Lose some weight (the daily biking is working, but hey, a magic wand would be great) Not be lactose intolerant A flat tax. I so loathe all the BS of taxes. Eliminate all my debt (again, the magic wand would help a slow process) Actually, not having to work to put food on the table. Just give me a large enough bank account, so I can write all the CP articles I want. And though it has really nothing to do with making my life better, #1 on the magic wand list would be, no more US casualties (or any country, for that matter) in Iraq (or anywhere else). I agree. I've heard several people say that if they won the lottery they would keep on working at their jobs. Personally, I think that's a load of crap. We don't like to be bored, but why would you work for someone else?
Oh if only I'd win the lottery, I'd have time to do some REAL work... For myself. Trying to run your own business is not picknick when you have no money or time to devote to it. Damn day job!

Other people. Buncha twisted, scheming, perverted hypocrites. And Bloody Marys. Not enough bartenders know how to make 'em right. Hmmm... other people into Bloody Marys... Oh - and cigarettes would give you super-human endurance instead of reduced lung capacity. Myself. 'Cause it wouldn't be fair to all the people i'd fixed to have to put up with an imperfect me. But i'd wait until after i'd enjoyed a few perfect Bloody Marys and nutritional cigs first...

If you could wave a wand and institute flat tax, why not make that no tax?

Rid the world of Celine Dion. All religious groups get along. Have the money and looks of Catherine Zeta Jones. (Before anyone freaks, I'm a girl.) A winter home in Australia. My pets never die.
