America Smarter than Spain [modified]

Actually in a separate poll (which I don't have handy), the US actually lead the world in an international poll for both quality and quantity of sex. So I guess your assumptions are wrong.
Of course, this could have been an "international" poll, like the "World" Series. Or maybe it was like the pre-War polls, where the US had the clear and committed support of other countries, but those other countries turned out to be Liechtenstein and Nepal. Or it actually demonstrated that the US is the world leader at manipulating polling data. So many possibilities...
-
Had you really wanted to convey something positive about the US, you would've said that the US is twice as literate as Spain, and you wouldn't have called them commies and wussies. What made you jump on Spain like that? Did you get turned down by a hot spanish girl? Did she call you fat, ugly, bald american bastard?

well, he would have jumped on France (as usual), but unfortunately, they also have 99% literacy. http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/fr.html[^]

:wtf: That's the second time I've heard an American refer to someones trouser-snake as a "wanker". Is this common? Because, as you know, "wanker" is used in a slightly different context over here. :)

But not being allowed to have a gun doesn't make you free? So you're free because you have the freedoms that your government allows you to have?

It's true according to another Brit on here.

Per his example, you don't have free speech.

What the fuck have guns got to do with freedom. Guns are about self defence and living in a dangerous environment. Fortunately in Europe, we are civilised enough not to need to carry guns.
espeir wrote:

Dont forget who invented democracy, and gave it to you. We happen to have made guns virtually illegal because we dont want 1.5 thousand deaths a year dus to guns, like you have.

That's correct. You're right in this point, but I think the number of ensconced illiterate persons might be higher. That's not just a point for the US, but also for Spain. I've got no numbers for Spain, but so I think there might be less than 99% of US-Citizens literated. I was stunned about the high number not about the comparison :) ------------------------------ PROST Roleplaying Game War doesn't determine who's right. War determines who's left.

Yes, I'm 99% sure that by "literate" they mean that a person has fundamental reading capabilities, but they can't necessarily read anything above SuperFudge.

In all fairness to Oxford's Dictionary, it does mention the american spelling. On the other hand, the american spelling for similar words is smarter, because it conveys the actual pronounciation better than the british counterparts. Definately more foreigner friendly. ;)

It does not make you free, but it does give a population recourse against a tyrannical government. Totalitarian governments always disarm the population, so they dont end up like the redocats did 200 years ago.

That's where the Spanish come in. Btw, you're acting no better that espeir. But I guess it's ok to be hypocritical here as long as it's against the US. And yes I voted this down and his up to balance it out. Jeremy Falcon

I'm highly educated by a truly free society where we have the ability to shape ourselves. I am therefore able to see a spade and call it thus.
fat_boy wrote:
Thats the diference between a society that cares for the less fortuante and the US.
A society is incapable of caring. It is merely a conceptual entity. By forcing people to care for other through automatic deduction, you actually separate people from their good deeds and they receive no spiritual reward. The US, on the other hand, leads the world in charitable donations because we are comprised of truly caring individuals...Not a series of tax deductions whose benefits are reduced by bureaucracy.

Ha ha. Yeah so free. You cant drink alcohol in parks and on beaches. You cant smoke dope legally. You cant buy drink in a mac donalds. Your women cant go topless on any beach they want. You have 11 holidays a year, as opposed to 22 here, plus a couple of weeks if your wife gives birth. We have free health care, and it is good. We can drive at 85 mph in France, unlimited in a lot of germany. Free? You dont know the meaning of free. Nunc est bibendum

Actually, anyone who shows up at an emergency room gets free treatment, including illegal aliens. Most people are covered with private insurance paid by employers, the rest are [also] riding on someone elses dime. The other stuff is irrelevent bullshit. BW

It usually is in the SB. But whatever. I'd rather the right to defend myself over the ability to buy booze at McDonalds. And, as would already said, if the public really wanted that it would happen. Jeremy Falcon

No, in fact it is true that the US is strangely restrictive in many ways, despite its pretenstions of freedom. Particularly regarding alcohol. Nunc est bibendum
Alcohol zoning is done on a local level. New Orleans (as I'm sure Mr. Falcon will point out) allows alcohol consumption in the streets. So does Savannah, Georgia and various other local municipalities. However, most people don't want a bunch of drunks and drug-addicts stumbling everywhere, so they choose (by enacting their freedoms) to restrict its consumption to certain areas.
