What corporate buzzwords do you hate? [modified]

I used to hear that a lot here a few years ago  And 'they' talked about business balance score card an awful lot. All engineers would be sleeping during the townhall meeting. Or even worse, they'd stay at their work place until someone present at the meeting pinged it was over and then we'd all go there and have a beer, haha. ;P

My top 3: Buzzword: Cycles Usage: If you have some free cycles, let me know, we have plenty of work to do. Reason for hate: I am not a machine, therefore I do not have little cogs and gears whirling around. Buzzword: Circle Back Usage: Why don't you go read my memo and then circle back to me when you get a chance. Reason for hate: What office is arranged in such a way that I could travel in a perfect circle and get tasks done? What kind of simple minded oaf thinks that life is that simple? Buzzword: Ballpark Usage: I don't need exact figures here, just ballpark it for me. Reason for hate: Ballpark is a noun. And what the hell does a ballpark have to do with an estimate?! X|

Seconded with a passion. Every time I heard this used, it was used as an excuse to build an even crummier box!

My favorite right now is "Value stream".
Why is common sense not common? Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level where they are an expert.

Hmmm, that's a new one for me :) Let me guess, a stream of value add thingees?

Amazing. In the 25 years I've heard this phrase, I've never heard that s is scientific. Learn something new every day... Well, it sure sounds more polite :)
Charlie Gilley Will program for food... Whoever said children were cheaper by the dozen... lied. My son's PDA is an M249 SAW.

Ping me when you have some spare cycles, so I can circle back to you, we will aquire some more resources and synergistically ballpark an estimate for adding value to our software.

You are lucky then. It's just a buzzword for a process your product undergoes that adds value to the product. So, instead of manufacturing process.... it's a value stream..... X|

Resource(s) - can't stand that! Synergy - shudder! Value Add - whatever!!
¡El diablo está en mis pantalones! ¡Mire, mire! Real Mentats use only 100% pure, unfooled around with Sapho Juice(tm)! SELECT * FROM User WHERE Clue > 0 0 rows returned Save an Orange - Use the VCF!
The whole "Paradigm" thing is alot like fingernails down a chalkboard as well! BTW, Jim Crafton, I LOVE your tag lines. El diablo esta en mis pantalones! I lauged about that for more than 15 minutes. Yo soy un gringo, pero se hablo espanol un poquito. My co-workers thought I was nuts until I translated! I also ran your SQL query here and got the same results. My modification to it got the EXACT same results... SELECT * FROM MANAGEMENT M WHERE INTENDED_RAISE > 0 INNER JOIN FINANCE F ON F.TIGHTWAD = M.MANAGER ROTF!

"Genuine" and "Genuine Advantage". There is no advantage to anyone except for Microsoft. This is a debate that I'm sure could go on for eternity, so I'll leave it at that. "Total Cost of Ownership". Nobody has any idea as to what this means except for the tech who is seeking the funding. The concept of TOA also leaves way too much room for differences in interpretation as to what "cost" is. "Change Management". Where I grew up we called this "upgrading". "Solution". What ever happened to "software" or "program" ?

I love the Itchy and Scratchy shows on the Simpson, but the one with Poochie was sweet :)
