Congratulations, Rob! May you always remember the feelings you had today, and continue to exercise the responsibilities as well as the rights that citizenship provides with the same grace, calm and reason that you clearly are showing here today. Regards - Trish

I mean no offense, but why would you want, or need, to be a US Citizen? As one myself, I'm ashamed of this country and the way we (in general) treat the rest of the world. BTW, I've spent about 10 years in the past living outside the US so I think I have a somewhat outsider's viewpoint.

I met a lovely old US couple on vacations. They said: "We are proud of our country, but ashamed of our government". And that's - for my outsider view - is exactly on the spot.

What you talking 'bout? There ain't no aliens here in Arizona. :) Congratulations on becoming a citizen. It's wonderful to be part of one of the greatest nations on the planet. It's also nice to know you're planning to vote. Now we can blame you for our elected officials. :)

I mean no offense, but why would you want, or need, to be a US Citizen? As one myself, I'm ashamed of this country and the way we (in general) treat the rest of the world. BTW, I've spent about 10 years in the past living outside the US so I think I have a somewhat outsider's viewpoint.

Good point. That is why I was asking. At least your response was informative, and you didn't just tell me to go to Michigan (Hell) :)

Then perhaps you should consider taking up citizenship elsewhere. There are no perfect nations.

If I'm ashamed that I didn't clean my house before company arrived, does that mean I should move to a new one?
