Oh yes! That's a VERY important detail! Oh, and you left out this little diddy:
Despite the charges, he continued his campaign and was re-elected in November
of 2004. Reynolds initially denied the charges, which he claimed were racially
motivated. On August 22, 1995 he was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault,
obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography. He resigned his seat
on October 1, 1995.So he continued running as a Democrat (thereby meaning he was supported by the Democratic Party), refused to resign and...Was even reelected!

One year ago, conservative newspapers The St. Petersburg Times and The Miami Herald were given copies of the e-mail, as were other news organizations, including Fox News. They sat on the story. Sorry, Stan. That blows your democrat dirty tricks theory out of the water.

How? Hastert, et al, openly admit they saw and responded to the e-mails. The issue is not about the e-mails. It is about the instant messages - who had those? Some of them are three years old. Have democrat operatives been hanging on to information that could have been used to protect these children just for their own political advantage?
Thank God for disproportional force.

Yeah, real harsh. They left him as co-chair of the Missing and Exploited Childrens Caucus(the irony!). They didn't investigate and discover that he had corresponded with other pages.

What should they have done? There was no evidence the man had done anything aside from asking a former page for a picture. There is no evidence Foley has ever physically molested or exploited a child in his life. Should congress go on a witch hunt against every member who is a suspected homosexual and speaks with a page? ARe you saying that homosexuals should not be allowed on certain committees? What would you be saying now if the Republicans had done that?

I'm sure when they do, they'll just slip an appendix on a unrelated bill to make it illegal to use as evidence.

Isn't IM sex molestation and/or exploitation? Foley had mutual masturbation sessions online with at least one page.

oh get over it. if the org structure for every failed politician had to fall on their sword we'd be living in anarchy. if anyone is to be criticized, other than Foley, it should be ABC who was more worried about impacting an election than it was in protecting the pages. GOP leadership got rid of the guy the minute they were made aware of the problem.

It certainly isn't physical contact. But, apparently, the republicans had no evidence of even that behavior because the democrats were setting on top of the evidence in order to spring it as another of their dirty little October surprises. I wonder how many more of these political charades we can expect before november?

But that isn't the point. The point is should members of congress who are homosexual not be allowed to have conversations with pages regardless of their age or gender? Is taht what the republicans should have done when they learned of the emails? Should they now review the emails and IM's of each homosexual member of congress? Is that the plan?

Where did you get this from? I've re-read the thread and nobody has mentioned this. Also pages come in both male and female varieties - so segregating homosexuals would be pointless. I repeat: This is not a homosexual issue - it's an age issue and a sexual harrasment issue since a page is subordinate to a congressman.
