:omg: Would be worth seeing how Vista RC2 performs on it.

What kind of mobo does it have? I looked at some of thier lower end barebones systems, and the boards they used were outright nasty.

Holly .... errrrr ... you know what... This thing SCREAMS! I have never seen a system so fast and it rocks pulling up task manager and seeing 8 (yes that is an eight!) CPU graphs :) 8 fans and it is still softer sounding than my last P4 desktop. I will be spending the next week gettin' the place all comfy and setup but it is going to be worth it. Time to fill up that 800 Gigs of HD space and 4Gig or RAM with VS.NET :)

That car rocks! I have never driven a more solid feeling auto. I would like to have a bit more HP but for the price she is VERY worth it. I have had people driving BMW speedsters tell me that they feel they got ripped off because of what they paid :)

You'll need Virtual PC 2007 Beta or Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta 2 for hardware virtualization to have any effect. Also, it still doesn't emulate a DirectX 9.0-compatible video card so you won't get Glass. To get the Virtual Machine Additions for Vista RCs, you need to sign up for the Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 Beta at connect.microsoft.com[^].

Looks like an old server board, which fits with thier desktop practice of dumping the junk they can't sell into the barebones systems.

My intent was (besides ending up with one kick-butt piece of equipment :) ) was to try to future proof myself for a while. I am in the habit of hardware swapping every few years and wanted something that I could keep for quite a while that was not going to leave me wanting more after 18 months or so. That and the wife dared me to buy a Xeon system :)

I am very pleased with the restart performance actually. Aside from the time it takes to display the SATA config to the screen and give you a chance to press CTRL-I to configure Raid on it the boot up time from cold to desktop is between 45 seconds to one minute.

Does what I need it to do. They are all about price, that's for sure. I would not buy anything form them that I wanted to stick in a data center that's for sure, but for my home use they have treated me well over the years. Never had any complaints about the service or any product that I bought from them and I have a purchase history that goes back about 10 years.

That is just obscene. There is spending money and then there is wasting money. I paid for raw horsepower, they are really overcharging for that system.

Yeah there comes a point where you pay a lot more for just a bit extra. I think in their case you're also paying extra for the brand and their testing etc.

:omg: An international Affair ! :-D My friend assembled a *high* end machine (dont know the exact configuration) but it was made with AMD64 x2, with mid end ATI chips. It costed him only 75,000 (US$1666). The machine runs really fast! And you know the cost of the machine with which I'm typing this message right now(I've come to my sister's home to enjoy the holidays )? It costed almost the same. 70,000. But it's a P4 1.6 Ghz X| , 128 MB RAM, 40 GB HDD. How can this be? Yup, my sister bought it 4 years before

                                          Wanted: Good Sig.
