I am a programmer. There have been many times that I have accepted a job, only to find out too late that there the boss demands 10 hour work days, that you will have old outdated computers to work on, That the boss plays politics and will put you on written notice if he doesn't like you, There is no air conditioning, You will be on call 24/7,,, etc.. Wouldn't it be nice to have a website where you could search for your prospective employer, department and boss'es name and read all of the bad things about the place. These reviews would be written by people that are working there now or have worked there. Similar to the concept of "www.dontdatehimgirl.com"

It would be much better to simply learn how to be more thorough interviewing companies you are looking to have hire you.

Riffing off of what Brian said, your job interview is also your chance to interview the employer.

Most of the time you really need to talk candidly with one of the programmers already working there. If you don't know anybody at the company, that is not possible.

Absolutely - I'd always ask things like 'what sort of source control do you use', and 'what sort of coding standards do you adhere to' ?

Actually thedailywtf[^] is now trying to have a similar service, where they're posting jobs for employers who are certified as not being a "WTF" kind of place. J

how about a website for bad employees so employers can't vent about the morons they hire.

That should have been agreed during the interview, OTE (OverTime Expected) should be mentioned in you're interview and on your contract.

When going for a job, ask about the PC you will be getting, where you will be sitting and what dev. tool you will be using.

Intimadation, Unfair dismissal? Got to say, when you're having the interview, it's upto you to ask everything about the job, it's them that want you not the other way around.

We made the buttons on the screen look so good you'll want to lick them. Steve Jobs
