Actually, salary is based on the department I am in and experience/training/degree. Ironically my department is Engineering. How is "3D Software Engineer/Architect" (I just "borrowed" it from Monster.com)

hmmmm... we don't really have them, but they look nice on business cards. Given the presence of a hollywood team of visual experts and 3D visualization experts from across the country I think it is time I change mine from "Computer Programmer". Work doesn't care, as long as you don't lie, or the title denotes a seniority (we're a flat organization, mostly all peers). So now I am in search of a job title.... (or subtitle) Computer programmer/3D specialist? any ideas?... yeah I know... creativity is easier in 3D graphics than tooting my own horn.

How's about ... Like Keanu Reeves ;P I say go with whatever gets you paid more. Just make sure to avoid something that will get you paid less.

my favorite business card I've seen so far was pretty bland on the front: "Systems Engineer" ... so on it continued ... but if you flipped the card over... watermarked on the back it said "Lead Ninja"

I always preferred Computer Programmer, but use Senior Software Engineer since that's what people expect (especially those writing the checks; it just sounds like you should pay the latter more.) I knew a guy once who listed his title as Software Guy.

I'm partial to something w/ Software Engineer in the title as well. Currently I'm Sr. Software Engineer :)

After 30 something years I still wouldn't change Analyst/Programmer for anything.

I do recruiting for a consulting company in the Chicago area that specializes in Microsoft Technologies. I'd love to see any CVs or resumes from people like him (or like you!). A sense of humor is a plus in any field, but a job title that accurately reflects someone's expertise is golden. I'm looking for Senior Developers who fulfill a consultant role. jwalden (at) pointbridge.com is my addess, feel free to pass it along. JW

I stole this one from someone else, who also stole it. So I apologize to the original creator. Doer of things I think it's a good title

A mate of mine works for ibm and his business card lists his title as "Linux hacker" i still think it's the most impressive business card i have ever seen, tho having the big blue logo there definetly helps too.
