    Complete rubbish, the fact that it appears in the body naturally does not change the fact it is a drug. Remember the people selling and promoting this stuff are out to make a profit, that is their only aim and that why they keep telling you its natural. It might be natural but its not natural to supliment what the body produces. Guess what? all drugs are made from or derived from naturally occuring substances. See a doctor

      And at his age (assuming teenage years) the body is practically begging to adapt and change to anything you put it through. Waiting until he's 50 to change lifestyles won't be near as easy.

        When winter came here I went out and bought the brightest compact flourescent lightbulbs I could afford and put them everywhere in the house, it's bright as day inside now and I find it makes a huge difference when you live in a bleak and dreary winter climate with no sunshine. I sleep better at night and feel awake in the morning. Last winter I felt pretty crappy pretty much until spring. I don't know about melatonin though, I know a guy who works on shifts and takes it and he says it helps with rotating shifts where he moves from one time period to another. Personally I avoid all medication unless it's absolutlely necessary. I don't even take an aspirin unless my headache is near migrane proportions. Alcohol though I consume quite regularly so I guess I don't avoid all medication. :)

        How's the flicker? I'd like to try something like that, but the flicker of most fluorescent fixtures annoys the heck out of me, and the price of keeping scores of halogen fixtures blazing gives me pause.

            Not in my lifetime. :) Though I would be happy if they could grow a new pancreas, not for me, I will survive (plus this was partly my fault for giving up and letting the illness destroy me), but my girlfriend got her diabetes as a teen, she has rarely known life without insulin.

              How many people here have used or use melatonin to treat your sleep problems? If so how effective is it? I have heard it will help get you to sleep and give you a higher quality sleep. It also has been known to induce extremely vivid dreams. I was thinking about combining it with 5-HTP to get a good sleep when I need. -- modified at 21:04 Tuesday 28th November, 2006

              I've tried it as a way to get over jetlag and it did absolutely nothing for me.

                  The only thing you can do thats worse than self-medication is combining medications. If you feel depressed, anxious or down address the problem by talking to someone. Go see a doctor and ask for a referal to a counsellor. Treat the cause not the symptom

                    Were you actually exercising or pretending to so you could fool yourself? Not being mean, but let's get serious. If you don't get to sleep when you have a regular exercise schedule then you're not on a schedule and/or you don't have a normal sleep schedule. Barring that, I'd check your stress level too. If you can't relax at night it will always be harder to go to sleep.

                      I have to tell you, one of the kids I met back in the 90s that I was most sorry for (there's a lot in the world no doubt but I met this one, so it was made real to me), was a kid named Forest who was born with Diabetes. I don't know how he's doing now, but the doctors said he'd most likely be blind as a teenager and die in his 20's. Crazy to think I'm almost 30 and not dead yet. I suppose the best thing we can do in these situations is not forget and don't take life for granted.

                          Ok, first, and this is very important. My advice will generally assume you're otherwise normal and don't have any special conditions to cater for. That being said... Did you get sleepy during the walk? If so, your blood sugar is out of whack and most likely your diet too. Or was it after the walk?

                            if you want good sleep 1) increase your physical workout 2) if you have stress problems try meditation 3) drink extra water 4) quit coffee / tea 5) try to quit alcohol/cigarettes 6) good sex before sleep will do (only if you are eligible :laugh:) 7) balance you diet its your body and take care of it ,it will pay you back and vice versa :):)

                                So go and see another doctor, if they recommend drugs tell them you dont want drugs you want to treat the cause of the problem. Otherwise you are just masking the symptoms. My father suffered from depression for many many years and was treated with Zoloft, its a real illness just like heart disease or anything else. If you want you can email me and Ill tell you a bit about what I learnt through his experiance.

                                  Btw, I should mention. If your heart's not pumping it's not real exercise. Even people that walk for health tend to "power walk" (basically briskly). Dragging along one foot after another (I don't know your story, just giving you info) isn't quite the same. Also, keep in mind, the weather can affect your mood. Bad moods can hurt your exercise session. If you don't like walking the rain and snow for exercise then you owe it to yourself to find a new means of getting it in.

                                    Life should NEVER be taken for granted. Even at 41, I could have 60 years left, or 6 hours left. No moment, no part of life should be taken for granted. Chances are I have about 20-40 years left depending on internal damage, no one can really say until things start failing. Life is as long as life is, no more, no less, enjoy it while it lasts and never take one moment for granted!

                                      do it not as work but enjoy it play out door games uninstall all game on your pc join any near by stadium for any game you are interested in (i prefer swimming ) restrict your use of internet and what waste stuff you surf and create a time table for you and follow it not like others you created before as far as i think you must had given your iq test try giving you bmr test keep your body moving quit laziness take frequent brakes from your system and you are not old enough to buy alcohol then you must do a lot care of your body and need any help further seek a doctor / physiotherapist :)

                                          didn't you ever read chemistry if you read it you should know that we a mix of chemicals and there is practically nothing natural every natural (organic compound ) can be created from chemicals (inorganic compounds) and don't fool your self with advertising campaigns the manufactures will always say that but if you go deep they are all creating them in labs and from chemicals :)
