Yes. First imagine if your registar company without your permission change your registered data like addresses and e-mail... this is the minimal reason to move to another company. The price is the same, but the difference of the quality of the services is huge... my data simply is not secure is this company... :(

The second your domain registration expired, you no longer had any rights to have your contact info. associated with that domain - they certainly don't need your permission to remove it because it's not your domain anymore. Why should they keep your contact info. on a domain you no longer own? Like I said before. You let it expire. Their obligation to you expired at the same time. Cheers, Drew.

But some customers mine delayed the payment, and in the day of expiration, this registar company lock the domain, take full control and change the dns to point this kind of site :doh:, instead of freeze the domain. Since then I moved all domains from this registar, just my domain Click-Ok.com was the remainder, and expired now in 9 January. Funny, I receive not warnings by e-mail about this... well, now what expired (me thinked) I will change to another better registar... but I cant!!! They just allow me transfer my domain to another registar if I pay another year. Then I will need pay the renew AND the transfer TO new registar :wtf: And they have changed my registered mail, then I did cannot receive not warnings about the expiration! [/HISTORY] [FINALLY] Of course, I will pay the renew AND the transfer, because I need my website in the air. But I wish call my lawyers against this company. What you think? [/FINALLY] [PS] I forgot to say what they changed not just my e-mail, but all my data, like address, city, etc... I use http://www.1and1.com[^] for all my domains (think something like 30-40 names). They charge $5.99 US and automatically renew them when they expire.

I use 1&1 who renew things automatically (with an email 2-3 weeks before payment is taken).

They are perfectly within their right to do this. Domains that expire are up for grabs and it's your fault if you forgot to renew. You should be grateful they are not holding you hostage asking for ridiculous sums of money to turn it back over to you. They are actually doing you a service by not allowing a 'camper' or 'parker' to steal your domain and hold it for ransom.

One of my clients is having some trouble with them right now. I won't go into detail but their customer service is pretty bad. Other than that, they have some really good deals on hosting, dedicated servers and so on. Our problem is one of those strange things where it seems like they don't want any more money from us... they won't let us upgrade our hosting package. Very strange.

As others have stated, the domain expired. The domain is in the redemption. To get it out of redemption, you can pay the fee - I believe you can only do that with the registrar you registered through. Your other option is to let it expire and have it go back into the pool of domains being available for registration. If you do that, you need to be aware that someone else could swoop in and buy it first. I too have a domain in redemption. I didn't use the domain for anything, but I just bought it because it was my full name. Unfortunately RegisterFly happily took my money to register it for two years, and then only registered for one. Yes, I should have monitored the WHOIS information more closely for the actual expiration date, but I didn't. Instead I believed what the RegisterFly page told me, which was it expires 10 months from now. RegisterFly's terrible customer service hasn't responded to me in over 2 weeks... so take my advice -- STAY AWAY FROM REGISTERFLY.

This just reminded me of how i was trying to buy "www.Brad.com" yesterday. Turns out they will not sell it for 5-10 years because it is part of one of their products :-( . (look at the site, it is terrible)

My contact info was changed BEFORE the expiration. My registered e-mail was changed by the REGISTAR, then I cannot receive none notification about renew... I manage more than 60 domains, and the another registars never changed my contact info without my permission, and all notifications about expiration arrive in my mailbox with 90, 60, 30 and 7 days left to expiration. Too, I think what they are so rigorous because they have some tool to capture expired domains and cost 4x more expensive than normal renews. I'm not questioning the fact of I let it expire (I'm wrong, I know). I'm speaking about they changed my contact info BEFORE expiration, nullifing any chance of I receive any notifications...

If you're absolutely certain about that then yes, they broke the rules. You might get a lawyer just to send them a letter. Usually that's enough, but if not, at least you get the ball rolling. Be absolutely sure of the dates of everything first though.
