I have 3 articles, you have none. Messages posted is not the only variable factored in when calculated your metal status. Time is also a factor, even if I got lost on a space ship and never got back online I would still become gold on October.

But my posting status should at least be "Personality"

If you were going to write a site with 3 million + members, would you dynamically calculate their status every time they posted, or would you store it in a table, which got updated, say, once a week ?

That's a shame.  Yeah, I'll hit Seattle, Portland, and Dallas for sure, and I'm hoping for New York on this next trip.  Orlando is a real possibility as well, and LA and San Fran are a given.  If we could hook up, that would rock.

No sir, I would do it the sensible way and have it calculate every time the profile was viewed. example (written in good OLDE English (which is compatible with any other language as long as you speak it slowly)) message_count = SELECT count(*) FROM MessageTable WHERE userid=XXXXXX AND deleted=0; //OK not so plain english here /* Plain English starts here */ Call system settings Get (in an array) the different levels for posting. level = 0 for each entry in the array, if the message_count is equal to or greater then entry then level = the level number (note this will only work if the levels are tested from least to most) and then evaluate the user's level based on a few different other calcs. Anyway that is how I would do it.
