It's out now :jig: Install VS 2005, then install SP1, then install SP1 Update for Vista. Remember, this is not SP1 for Vista, this is sorta like an SP for Vista for SP1. Link to the SP1 Update[^]

EDIT: And I still can't drag a .txt file from explorer into VS2005. F****** amateurs. (And no, I would not be mad if that was my only problem.)

It works fine for me (on XP and Vista).

I meant it works in VS2005 on XP and Vista. I can drag and drop text files, .cpp and solution files as well.

All I could think of reading the info is "But I just installed VS 2005 sp1 a month or more ago? WTF is this?" All I can gather is that it's kind of a replacement of sp1 called sp1 that is newer.

It's pretty obvious what it is to me. It's an update to VS to make it run as intended on Windows Vista. It's irrelevant to anyone running VS 2005 on XP. They did say some months ago that VS 2005 SP1 was not compatible with Vista.

But that would have been more confusing. This update is for Vista only. If they'd called it SP2 people would have thought it was for XP too. As background, Microsoft had originally intended to have a single SP1 for both XP (oh, and 2000) and Vista. But they were unable to produce it in a timely fashion, so they thought they'd push out SP1 to satisfy the XP and 2000 users and patch Vista later, rather than delay the whole thing to now. No sorry, when I got my vista station at the end of February one of the updates I installed was Visual Studio SP1 for *Vista*. This is also VS SP1 for Vista, but a new one. If that's not confusing I don't know what is.
I am aware of only this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=BB4A75AB-E2D4-4C96-B39D-37BAF6B5B1DC&displaylang=en[^] for 2000, XP and Vista released in December and the SP1 update for Vista that we are discussing here. If there is some other version of SP1 then that is indeed confusing. But nothing else shows up in Google.
