Guys, gather around the fire! Maunder will tell a story.

Everybody wants to get admission in reputed institution, but it is not always possible. But other than reputed colleges there are many good colleges across India. Those colleges also play an important role in building up career. So we have come up with the site www.collegesearch.in which will help you not only search for the colleges but also build up your career.

I'm the same...I used to be very socially awkward, and even now I still struggle a bit until I get to know people a little. That said, I'm getting more and more involved in my Church (in such things as Congregational Care and the organisation of social events) so that can only help. :)

I was just reading a short article on FoxNews about celebrities and their phobias. What are your phobias? I am afraid of spiders and crowded places because I am afraid a fire will break out. I was afraid of fire for years and wasn't sure why. Turns out I mimicked my parents and took the hot car cigarette lighter to my lips as a toddler and hated all hot things after that. I didn't even try to light a match until college. I used to keep a car door open while starting the car in case the car started on fire during startup and then I could make a quicker getaway. I finally conquered that fear. I still hate spiders and will panic at packed places (like the mall during the holidays). Not sure if I will get over those. Anyone willing to admit your phobias? BTW, what would the fear of not being able to read CP be?

Fear of large crowds. Cant stand crowded shopping centres and I battle at concerts. I usually have to get golden circle and stand at the back where there's space. Nothing else really bothers me except REALLY cramped spaces where I can't move.

Dad always thought laughter was the best medicine, which I guess is why several of us died of tuberculosis. I can picture in my mind a world without war, a world without hate. And I can picture us attacking that world, because they'd never expect it.

Me too. It makes me very uncomfortable and puts me in a bad mood whenever I have to be in a large crowd.

You shouldn't worry, spiders have almost never been known to start fires in crowded places.

I have a phobia for this insect[^], which I don't know how is it called in English, nor I want to know. X| I don't like crowded places, but I wouldn't call it a phobia.

I am uncomfortable around strangers. I make up excuses to not have to go to parties where I know less than 40% of the guests. I also have a great deal of respect for high-voltage installations. Had that ever since I poked around in a power supply to get the fan back going.... I was afraid of heights as a kid, but that has changed since I became a firefighter. I love being high up now (I moved into the top floor of a high-rise building for that reason). I absolutely love climbing "our" tower-ladder in full gear, with just a few inches of girder to keep you from falling off, then climbing into the basket on top. You can SEE so much stuff from up there. Like, replaced roof-tiles spelling "I (heart) U" to someone :)

Cheers, Sebastian -- Contra vim mortem non est medicamen in hortem.

I have a fear of falling, not a fear of heights. What's the difference? The top of the Sears Tower in Chicago is no problem, two steps up a wobbly step ladder is. Like many people here I don't care for crowds and groups of people. I don't think of it as a phobia however. No fear response, just don't care for it.

People here don't know how to merge onto the interstate. A couple months ago I was almost in an accident because someone STOPPED on the merge lane. It was one of those neiher of us breathed or talked for a couple miles because we knew how close we were to a MAJOR accident. I still hate that exit to merge to the interstate.

I'm afraid that companies in my country will abuse the H1B visa law, and replace American workers in their home land. Oh, wait. It's already happening.

Don't know about phobias but I moved around a lot for years and when I got the chance to settle down I got very twitchy, always thinking something had to go wrong, that it couldn't last. It's been 16 months and I'll shortly be taking my first proper holiday in 12 years. Elaine :rose:

I used to be terrified of heights, until I finally realized that I don't fall down very often, and the chances of me falling off of anything is really very small.
