Does anyone else find these commercials as ridculous as I do? I just saw the lastest one where PC is bloated with free software. How is this Microsoft's fault? The PC manfactures are the ones who fill up the systems with crap. Microsoft has also been forced to include other software.

We should all just enjoy them for what they are. Corporate crap on both sides, give and take. They tickle me.

I think there hilarious, and good for Microsoft and Apple, tho better for apple. It just makes people like you mad and want to support Microsoft, and people who like apple want apple more. it no one who will change there computer because of the commercial. sure apple may sell a few more mac's to home users but there still barely denting the market Microsoft has. it would be more detrimental for Microsoft to try to retaliate then just laugh along.

Firstly, I am not an Apple/Mac fan, but I have to tip my hat off to the Apple Marketing department. With the iPod (yes, *cough*, *looks away* I have one), and now these ads against PC's. They are minimilistic, probably very inexpensive, but do a great job at what I assume is their intention -- Make people think about their product. And voila...now a bunch of computer programmers are discussing them in a forum. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. And yes, they do like to stab at microsoft, and do so in clever, childish manner, but it even makes me laugh, because I can't deny what they are saying, though I wish I could.

exactly, and how many Microsoft fans hate mac for these commercials and now will never even give mac a second glance. there good for both companies, it just spurs fanboyism on both sides. iam an avid pc user but i think the average home user would benefit from a mac

Very well put, Mr. Scott, (except of course the mac plug for an avg home user!) :-) j/k. For me, I would only suggest a MAC for someone in graphic design/music/video editing... and even with those, you can do that on a PC, but MAC seems the popular choice for such functionality. (probably becasue its so "cool, cleek, and hip")

Whether its M$s fault or not, it's still pretty much the truth of the matter. I haven't seen an OEM PC yet that isn't full of pre isntalled crap in which a lot of it is very difficult if not impossible to remove. I can't speak for macs; I have no idea how they come out of the box. All I know is that whenever I get in a new pc from any of the big three or any smaller oem seller, I do a complete reinstall before it goes anywhere else (in the company I work for or for any personal 'side job' I take on for a client).

Who said is was? Apple is promoting the entire package: hardware, OS and bundled apps. That particular commercial is geared more towards HP, Dell, Acer, etc... than Microsoft.

Isn't that part of what the whole anti-trust suit against MS was about. Including software that wasn't deemed required for an operating system (IE, Media Player...)? There by having their foot-in-the-door before other competition. I say time for a class action law suit against Apple for including software that I wanted to write! Ha Ha.

My sad recently got a new XP Pro machine from HP, and to my utter shock, it had only a DVD player app on it. Nothing else, and the player is worth keeping as it isn't a trial and the PC has a DVD drive. I sure hope it's the start of a new era.

Difference being market share. Microsoft was declared a monopoly and thus has to live by a different set of rules than non-monopolies. Seems odd, but that's the law.

Aww just ignore it. MAC's are nice machines but they're just doing the old tomato throwing act. Second place contenders always have tomato launchers as their front-line equipment. -CB :)
