Does the J stand for 'Javascript most of the time' ?

It enlivens and brightens the web on most of the browsers right. Albeit, you can use XmlHttp object in VBScript also, even the number of examples of it using JavaScript can really prove as a salient testimony to its success. :)

Yeah, I guessed it would work in VBScript ( as per my response ), but really, it would be AVBAX then.

Like I said, I believe you. I'd just expect it to be very, very uncommon, for the simple reason that anyone who uses VBScript, is locked in to IE. And, you'll note that they don't use the term 'AJAX' on this page, precisely because AJAX is an acronym, which contains a J, for javascript. We're splitting hairs here, I knew before this conversation started that VBScript can be used on the client side in IE, and that VBScript is capable of creating COM objects, and would be well able to make an asyncronous call using XML by using the XMLHTTP object.

There is also Silverlight, which allows several different languages on the client such as C#. While some look at Silverlight as a UI, it goes beyond UI with allowing a subset of .NET to run on the client side. The UI is just a bonus ;)
