I'm working in the IT department of an hotel chain. The whole work is made using Microsoft technologies (C#/ASP.NET/SQL Server ..) We're working on a new project since June. I see that I'm going good as I did all the tasks that I was asking for in time. But I'm having a problem, I've never been in regular time :) never came at 8 o'clock, always 8,30 - 9 sometimes till 9:30. Are you used to be late ?

I wake up early so I am usually at the office around 7:30am. But we have the ability to leave early so it all works out.

That or later is my natural schedule, but being a parent, I'm up at 6 and working at 7.

Normally the works starts at 9:00. 9:35 is the last tolerated time. I rarely arrive before 9:30. Few times (ok, ok, 1-2 days a week) I am late about 10-20min max. Pretty good, isn't it? When I was at university, I ignored pretty much all lectures starting before noon. But then again, so did most of computer science lecturers :)

I used to have a problem with punctuality, until my son was born. Now I try to be in the office by 7am and out by 3:30-4pm so that I can spend as much time with him as possible before we put him to bed.

Standard working hours are 8-5, but at employee preference can be changed to any 9hr period between 7 and 6. The only caveat being that you can't use adjusted hours as an excuse to skip out on the start of end of an all day meeting with a client. I know a few coworkers that leave earlier or arrive later than that though. I'm not sure if they're working part time or've gotten permission to work from home for an hour or two each day. Most of them are parents of young children so I assume the altered work patterns are childcare/school related.

Our time is from 7:30 am to 4:30 am. but I am in around 7:35 usually and out around 6:00 (nowadays, otherwise was leaveing around 7:30). But my salary is getting cut when i cross the limit or 5 grace or 2 late marks (=1 half day).

Erm I'm with you, Originally my hours were 9.00-5.30 which I was never making on time, esp if I caught public transport. So after a year my boss sat me down and asked if I wanted to change my hours to 9.30-6. Was a bonus for me cos I would never leave b4 7.30 anyway!! :-D

My normal hours are 8:30 to 6 and i try to stick to it, good time-keeping is more important for back office staff than for front office which is fair enough because our front office are normally working all hours even weekends. Try to be in on time but sometimes late because of rubbish train operator and try to leave no later than 6:30 again because of rubbish train operator but do work on the train on the way in and out.

We are on a honor system here and can work pretty much any time we want. I try for 9:00am but take a bus. Sometimes they meet up well and I get here at 8:50 sometimes not and I get here at 9:10. It roughly works out, plus I take my lunch in the office so am answering questions when I'm not being paid.

Time? Office? Work hours? I don't understand these concepts. I work out of my home office and work whenever I feel like it. When on a project, typically 8:30 AM until 2:30 AM - yes, both AM. Break as needed for refreshments  , entertainment, power nap  , and to irritate the missus :rose:. Weekends & Holidays? What are those? I shoulda kept that desk job! :((

Doesn't affect me. I'm the boss, so I define my own hours - mainly because I do so much outside of the office.

That's not fair for the people you work for. You need to set an example. My Boss is late almost everyday, and it irritates the hell out of me. It doens't matter how much you do outside of normal hours you need to be there every day on time. I get called to do work outside of normal hours but I'm still at the office, 15 minutes early, everyday.

As a contractor, I make my own hours - unless someone schedules a meeting. I could work from home, but I'm reserving that for bad weather or broken mass-transit. As a morning person, I catch the 5:35 AM commuter-rail and start at 7:00 AM, which is after ca. 20 minutes of miscellania that conduct when I actually get in (6:40 +/1 5 min). Payback? 4 9.5 hour days and a half day (at most) every Friday.

Oh you gotta be kidding. Get a life.
