Karl wrote: You're right, he is stupid to make such comments. He's giving a bad image of Italian Football. And people making this sort of comment (and, even worse, racist comments) gave a bad image of Italy (I don't care much about it, I don't like to be judged as "italian" and I think it's stupid do judge someone by the place it came from...). Karl wrote: the main error was made by Trapatoni: why did he change Del Pierro who was the best italian player on the field, instead of Totti, who played like a painter ? Since the beginning of his career Trapattoni is used to remove an attacker and put in a defender or midfielder immediatly after his team scores a goal :) I think that the change didn't help much (even if "ringhio" Gattuso played well) because it give the idea that Trap and his time were afraid of the Koreans and that gave them much security to try to score. Karl wrote: I think the referee was not good, not that he was unfair. That's the same comment made by Tommasi that's is one of the most intelligent players around (and I'm not saying that because he plays in my favourite club :)). Mr. Moreno is not a good referee and a stadium with 70.000 supporters didn't help his self control. When our team loses it's difficult to find someone that admit that the opponents are better or, at least, played fair. It's simpler to think about some oscure plot and something like that... -- Looking for a new screen-saver? Try FOYD: http://digilander.iol.it/FOYD
Vuemme wrote: think it's stupid do judge someone by the place it came from Agreed. but it's hard to avoid stereotypes when talking about football :) Vuemme wrote: my favourite club I'm not sure, AS Roma ? Vuemme wrote: It's simpler to think about some oscure plot and something like that Sadly, it's probably something our two countries share :(( (we heard also harsh comments about the Mexican referee after France-Uruguay. BTW, it's funny how European teams are in anger with Central America referees: Italy with Equator, France with Mexico, Belgium with Jamaica... wait and see England-Brazil!) Olli wrote: Noone is doing some own work with their own kids Not true in France: Teams have their formation centers, and their players are coming mostly of these centers (like Auxerre, Nantes...). These centers are efficient: quiet all senegalese players come from them :) And when the players become more confidents, they are bought by Italian, English, German or Spanish clubs. Olli wrote: Look at the Brazilians, they play a really nice ball, thats a lot of love, not only the money Yeah, that's why Ronaldo went to the Inter ;P Y'a cool jouer avec Maradona qui fait tourner gratos dans les vestiaires - Merci Maradona ! - Y'a pas d'quoi ! Just when you think you've seen it all, an Italian club cut Ahn from their roster for the simple reason that he scored the winning goal against the Italian nationals! How outrageous can you get?! What was he supposed to do? Not make the goal? I can understand if he had cheated, but he did nothing but represent his country and score a winning goal. I would be terribly embarrassed if I was an Italian football fan about now. Here's the story: Angry Italian club owner cuts Ahn Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible
<Paul being a racist bigot> They are Italians, what were you expecting? Clear, rational, logical thought? Pah! </Paul being a racist bigot> From the sounds of it the whole playing for a club vs. playing for your country war is just getting hotter. Here in SA we are having big problems with players (both in Soccer and Rugby) simply not pitching for practices or games because the overseas clubs simply have more money on offer. We had to splash the story across our front-pages to get our captain back from England to play in the African Cup. Were has "playing for your country is the biggest honour" thinking gone? regards, Paul Watson Bluegrass Cape Town, South Africa The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and to be loved in return - Moulin Rouge Tim Smith wrote: Over here in the third world of humor (a.k.a. Karl wrote: Yeah, that's why Ronaldo went to the Inter Karl you're right, money moves the World, but as far as I'm concerned Brazil's prize for winning the World Cup is much lower than England's, Spain, Italy, etc. Cheers, - xico -
I suppose that winning a 5th Cup would be the greatest reward ever for every brazilian player :) it will by tough vs. England, they are really impressive this year, especially in the defensivve sector. "I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian soccer." I'd love to have the power to ruin the skills of soccer players in an entire country... Ahn seems to have done it :-)

I didn't include Columbia becuase in that case you're talking the mob. I'm talking here about what are supposed to be business people firing someone for representing his country. Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible
Tom Archer wrote: didn't include Columbia becuase in that case you're talking the mob I guess you're mentioning Colombia because of what happened with Andres Escobar after that last World Cup. Andres was shot in a fight with a drunk guy. It wasn't mob related. I know because I lived in Colombia at the time and followed the investigation.

When the story first broke out, it was said that he was killed by the mob becuase of lost gambling money. Of course, once the investigation was finished the media didn't care to correct themselves as it was old news  Cheers, Tom Archer Author - Inside C#, Visual C++.NET Bible
