Soon after the long-awaited $158 operating system upgrade went on sale on Friday, Apple's online technical support forum was hit with a deluge of complaints from buyers who said it crashed their computer[^] Updated at 10:32 Monday 29th October, 2007: It seems some Mac users are claiming the problem is with (Unanity's APE[^] product. Here's[^] a post from Unsanity that tries to clear this up a little. You know Apple are maturing as a company when their core product is suffering the slings and arrows of third party extensions.

I'm sticking with Tiger until I find something really worth $129* in Leopard. * $158 must be for the 5 license family pack?

On Friday evening I was driving near the Apple store in our area and even though it was raining, people were standing outside the store. I think almost 50 people were standing outside the Apple store here in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. I was so surprised to see a crowd for Apple OS X...;););)

They suffered an awful lot more from third-party extensions[^] in the pre-OS X days - Apple provided hooks into the OS at what is arguably too low a level (still do, arguably - Input Manager hacks[^] and Objective-C 'posing'[^] seem a bit dodgy to me).

Looks to me like Unsanity's APE product makes the system go APE-shit when Leopard is installed.

Not so much these days. They've come down and if we didn't get 30% Dell discounts at work the Apples would be cheaper than the Dell spec we have to buy (laptop and desktop.)
