I got a job :) Same salary, but about 30-60 minutes less travel a day, and a huge saving in fuel costs ;P

But wouldn't there be a notice period in your current organization? Waiving a notice period normally enforces steep charges in lieu of that right?

Our whole division was retrenched. As long as we have no loose ends, we can have immediate notice :)

I am working in CT (Paarden Island really) now. The new job is in Durbanville area, in that new office development called 'The Vineyards' above Tygervalley. Only 15 minute drive from home (near Cape Gate mall). :-D

Ah yes, some nice riding around that area. When I was down in January, my friend in Monte Vista took me for a befokte spin around Durbanville hills and country roads on his BMW R1100S.

Well done, they must have really keen on you to make you an offer immediately like that, or really desperate to get someone :) . I hope it works out and you slot straight in to the new position. I hope I'll be reducing my travelling costs by getting back on my bicycle for my daily commute this year. Just as soon as the doctors tell me I won't end up a cripple in the long term if I do.

Nothing is exactly what it seems but everything with seems can be unpicked.

Well done :) I have only 6.5 days left and I am SO happy now. Got my leaving speech down from approx 5 hours to 15 mins.....bit more pruning needed methinks.

I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)
