I had a Cat scan done to day (smart Cat) and they said I couldn't have any caffeine for 2 days so according to this study I'm gonna experience withdrawals and get grouchy. At least now I'll know why! http://scienceblogs.com/developingintelligence/2008/02/optimally_wired_a_caffeine_use.php[^] Mike

cat's are amazing animals... ever notice how they look at you and can seem to look right through you? this is the power of a cat scan. BUT it comes at a price.... in the back of that huge machine is a cat trained to look into you day after day after day.... it is a very bored cat... so beyond the initial cats rights people there is also the issue of the cat making up things because he is tired of looking into people.... look closely and occasionally you will see faint images of mice, and cheese, and liver and onions.... This is why you have to be trained to look at cat scans... because you have to learn how to pick up the cats vision and his imagination.... it is a tough job.... and sometimes the cat fools you....

Yea caffeine is the number one addictive drug in the world even though i think sugar is well above that, but not considered a drug. Have you ever looked at the ingredients chart on a product, almost ever product is jammed full of sugar. Even though they dont list the actual name sugar they change it to other things like HIGH FRUCTOSE and CORN SYRUP. They also list the ingredients in order of quantity so almost every product lists sugar first. No wonder everyone is getting a form of diabetes! :sigh:

Have you seen how much sugar is in a jelly cube? Its ridiculous... yet delicious. One small 40p pack of jelly has more that the daily recomendation of joules. I remember one time, i ate 2 packets of cubes within 2 hours, and i couldn't sit still for quite a while. Good times, goood times.

My current favourite word is: Nipple!

I disagree I believe Nicotine is the most addictive but caffeine is the most widely used. I can live without coffee but even though I quit smoking for many years I never lost the urge and am smoking to this day even though doc tells me I've got slight emphysema. But your right about sugar everything has some sort of sugar in it. I would also guess that americans consume more than any other country. Mike

They do look right through you that how it works. Plus all that licking to prep you I would think their little tongues would wear out in time. Conversely a Dog scan is where they look for bone problems! :) Haven't had one those thank god! Mike

Ask any Vet that relies on the VA for primary care? I do admit its gotten better but thats like comparing Prison to Jail, Its still the same old SNAFU! Mike

I admit my experience with active duty health care is forty plus years out of date, but though it was not perfect (I was left alone while undergoing a spinal tap which cost one guy a stripe) was nonetheless delivered in a professional and efficient manner. What I'm saying is that the armed forces know how to get it right - how come the VA gets it so wrong?

...funding...And now that baby boomers (Viet Nam) vets are getting older theres more of us to take care of. It also depends on where you go to seek help some are better than others. An example we don't have a hospital here in Jacksonville (FL) only a clinic, I had to go to Lake City, 1-1/2 hr. drive to get my scan done. Jax's population is 1M+! So the politicians can pat themselves on the back all they want but the fact is if you don't budget the funding for better health care you don't get it! Mike

I had a Cat scan done to day (smart Cat) and they said I couldn't have any caffeine for 2 days so according to this study I'm gonna experience withdrawals and get grouchy. At least now I'll know why! http://scienceblogs.com/developingintelligence/2008/02/optimally_wired_a_caffeine_use.php[^] Mike

There is not such thing as optimally wired. I was grooving much better at work last night, really into the zone, and I even stopped the coffee before 18h00. I got home an couldn't sleep until sunrise, at around 05h30.

Mike

You don't necessarily disagree, that was a vague sentence which could have meant (number one addictive) drug OR (number one) (addictive drug) I he was mentioning the latter, so you agree with him.

:sigh:

And they keep increasing the sugar levels in existing products :sigh:

Watch out for the headache and remember that some OTC pain meds containe caffeine.

Mixing caffeine and chocolate can be deadly to some creatures - remember this when ordering your flavoured coffees and sprinkling the cocoa on your cappuchinos! http://www.newscientist.com/channel/health/mg19626351.700-death-by-chocolate.html

Interesting timing. I just quit Caffeine myself ... about 6 days into the withdrawal. Man ... I ain't going through that again. I've been drinking caffeine for 30 years and just realized how addicted I was. My head is far clearer right now than it has been in some time. I ain't goin' back this time. -CB :D
