I used to watch cricket ever since I knew about it. Later, when I learnt that it was all about gambling/match-fixing, I gave up watching it.I still play cricket and basketball with my colleagues to keep fit.

Even without match-fixing, it sucks a big time.

It and I have reached a gentleman's agreement: I won't watch it, and it can go about its boringness without me.

The only good things about cricket are Pimms and Lemonade and Cucumber sandwiches. Of course, it is an ideal game for drinking and eating as a spectator, as very little actually happens. Its just an excuse to sit in the shade of a tree in the English summer and get slowly drunk woth your friends while the occcasional something happens on the pitch.

You should only solicit a response from people in countries who play the dammed game, US for instance does not play it and I'd bet less that 5% have any idea about the game. 5 days for a test match -  1 day matches - these can be fun to watch. 4 hours for 20/20 - I've never actually watched one of these

I'm primarily a sporting shot but shoot almost everything else. Shot sporting, skeet and all-round for the county. Sporting, FITASC, and Compak for Wales. 90% of my shooting is sporting and shoot skeet, skeet doubles and flushes the most.

Oh I think crickets are quite interesting, but they look a lot like cockroaches. It's also easy to confuse a cricket with a grasshopper. I believe, like cockroaches, crickets prefer dark shady areas as their eyes are more attuned to darkness. There's a fan club for crickets? Cool, I would never have guessed, though nowadays, you can find anything on the web, right? I wonder if they include some spicy cricket recipes? But I sort of put cricket fans into the category of the oddball fan club. I mean, the things aren't really that interesting, right? Unless your a bug lover, a kid, or a scientist. Marc

I'm primarily a sporting shot but shoot almost everything else. Shot sporting, skeet and all-round for the county. Sporting, FITASC, and Compak for Wales. 90% of my shooting is sporting and shoot skeet, skeet doubles and flushes the most.

Good stuff, skeet is incredible fun. I'd love to get into it, but for 2 things. Time and the initial cost of buying a decent shotgun.

That's where we differ, I get bored with it, very easily  I do shoot it a bit but more for fun. For example on Sunday when I returned home to shoot in the last league shoot (sporting) of the season, we went over to a skeet club to while away the rest of the day. First round to "warm-up" I shot with suitable (i.e. Skeet chokes) into the gun. Second round I had much more fun when I tightened the chokes to 5/8ths and 3/4s and everything was then a puff of dust. No, my one discipline has to be sporting and it's derivatives such as SporTrap (American version), FITASC and flushes (more life-like).

I wouldn't bother getting a reasonably expensive one to start. I know lots of people who've got "cheap and cheerful" guns and shoot better than people with £8000 Krieghoffs. My personal gun is an [Miroku MK38 Trap (32")](http://www.browningint.com/miroku/products/04m/firearm.php?productsarea=miroku&sommaire=Over and under&classe=mk38&famille=MK38+TRAP+12+GAUGE&reference=813003442)[[^](http://www.browningint.com/miroku/products/04m/firearm.php?productsarea=miroku&sommaire=Over and under&classe=mk38&famille=MK38+TRAP+12+GAUGE&reference=813003442 "New Window")], Grade 3, cost me £1550 and I don't think I'll change it ever. It has been teagued, i.e. had adjustable chokes put in by the guy I bought it off, my cartridge supplier. Got a good deal on it because it's worth more like £1800 but I got him a contract with my university to supply cartridges so he gave me the deal. My previous ones to this (still got both but will be selling one) were a £200 Lanber which Dad now uses for hunting squirrels and a £1150 Browning Ultra XS. Go the route of the neighbouring farm's son who just started and is doing very well. He just bought a £700 Miroku MK70 Sporter and that's a nice little gun and not too expensive. The problem at the moment is the price of cartridges.
