Pixil doesn't know she's handicapped. So she is perfectly comfortable running across the floor and using radar in aid of leaping through the air onto my shoulders. (The bad news is that she can't tell when I am not wearing a shirt.) Her favorite perch is the top rung of a floor to ceiling cat tree, and she can find dropped food faster than most cocker spaniels. :-D

Bu twhy do you need that right? What is th epurpose? I could understand if you were bemoaning the right to have children or to choose where you live or go to school. But the right to buy objects the sole purpose of which is to kill other people? Surely that is a right that is just plain wrong.

Really, I would have thought it would have been for protection in times when life was somewhat cheaper. The usual protection against out of control government is by the ballot box - is that not in the constitution somewhere? Would it really be beneficial for the citizens to take up arms against hte government (they would seem to have enough).

Boy are you naive. The first thing an out of control government takes is the ballot box, followed immediately by the right to bear arms.

                1. Being just 13 and largely unaware of even your immediate surroundings, your opinions and statements in this conversation are severely discounted. 2) Living in Europe, it's understandable that you don't have the same outlook on life as Americans do, so once again, your opinions and statements in this conversation are severely discounted. 3) Just so you know, it was your government's actions that inspired the creation of the Bill of Rights. Since this indicates that you would have a dramatic conflict of interest in *anything* we do over here, your opinions and statements in this conversation are severely discounted. 4) Technically speaking, "we" didn't "give" anyone guns. "We" have the right to own them if we so choose. Your statement not only indicates a severe lack of understanding of historical events as well as society in this country as a whole, but a lack of respect for the United States in particular, so your opinions and statements in this conversation are severely discounted. 5) There's not one thing I'm embarrassed about regarding my country's origins. Just because some Europeans don't agree with our constitution or understand why it exists doesn't mean it's invalid.

Cats, eh? Just had to put down our 2nd cat. Archie got hit by a car (probably) last year and Hoady just got REALLY old: he was about 18 and dribbling from both ends. He'd stopped cleaning himself and really wasn't eating. Sad. Still, no more pets. At least not for a while...

I have learned from experience, most young blacks and mexicans are barbaric, gang oriented, and just fucking scummy. They are the reason Americans need guns. I'm not being racist, its just the way it is. I would love to give you a tour of eastside Dayton. Even if you do lock your car doors you will get your battery, radio, and anything inside stolen. The only cars that are fairly safe are the ghetto looking cars, the old rust buckets with windows that are already broken. I used to live in the heart of Dayton, and you will surely get your shit jacked. My dad had is car windows broken, batteries stolen, tools stolen from his garage. My little brother was knocked off his bike and his bike was stolen by a black person. Lots of crack sales are taking place in Dayton, almost all by blacks.

One should probably be not be so shortsighted to not reevaluate ones rights as times change. I hope they bring back the right to accuse and burn witches with no evidence. I've heard that was good for a laugh.

Don't know much about the Swiss, do you? They certainly aren't "armed to the teeth". Just in 2004 they cut their military personnel in half. I know, I've lived here for 5 years. Their army consists of regular guys (non-professionals, basically a militia) who aren't particularly interested in fighting and most find some way to get excused from military service. They are actually conscripted beyond 30, but the "conscription" consists of weekends spent camping in the woods and shooting at still targets. Their military infrastructure is also dated and falling apart. They just shut down their nuclear bunker in the Gotthard tunnel because it is structurally unstable and got severely reprimanded for an incursion into Liechtenstein: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2007/mar/02/markoliver The only plus is that the local government reserves a spot in the town nuclear shelter for you even if you're a foreigner. Contrary to popular belief, it's also not very expensive. They also have a nasty habit of recording everything you do and intercept and keep all electronic communications and emails entering or exiting the country for a period of 1-3 years.

Ahem: what, exactly, do you need a gun for? I have lived in 'your' country and I maintain very close ties and am an ardent admirer and dedicated Yankophile. However, your obsession with weaponry has always perplexed me. It's not whether or not the constitution allows it or confers ownership as a right it is why you need them at all? I never felt the need to arm myself when there nor do I now nor does my family that are still there. So why do you? What is so important about carrying a weapon for which there is only one use?

So by owning a gun, your brother would have done what exactly on that bicycle-robbery? Shot the assaulter? For stealing a bloody bike? Or just threaten him, so next time he comes back with his gang- oriented barbaric friends to play it save?

See? No need to lock it. My car with already broken several times (not in my area, though), and everytime it was a bigger nuisance to grapple with police for insurance papers and repairing the windows, than simply buying a new radio.

According to early reports, it appears as if the DC handgun ban will be struck down as being unconstitutional. If true, this will be a substantial victory for all patriots. For the uninitiated, the 2nd amendment does not *grant* the right to keep/bear arms, it says that the right shall not be infringed, meaning the right already existed as a natural right and thus cannot be taken away. Also, the 2nd amendment does not restrict the types of arms you may keep/bear.

One should probably be not be so shortsighted to not reevaluate ones rights as times change. I hope they bring back the right to accuse and burn witches with no evidence. I've heard that was good for a laugh.

Do you think the First Amendment should be changed? Seeing as (and i'm sorry for bringing it in) freedom of religion is a right, a fair few of your posts don't always seem to share that view. Aren't you against everyone elses right to believe what they want? "One does not justify one's rights; one asserts them, one exercises them." - terrorist in training?

So by owning a gun, your brother would have done what exactly on that bicycle-robbery? Shot the assaulter? For stealing a bloody bike? Or just threaten him, so next time he comes back with his gang- oriented barbaric friends to play it save?

See? No need to lock it. My car with already broken several times (not in my area, though), and everytime it was a bigger nuisance to grapple with police for insurance papers and repairing the windows, than simply buying a new radio.

So he didn't lock his garage? Didn't you tell him how very careless that is?

My brother was just a kid. But that mother fucker needs to be shot. If you can't respect people and their property, you need to pay the ultimate price. Especially a kid, people who prey on kids need to be killed.
