With four older siblings and compiling our wish lists from the Sears Wish Book, no I never believed in Santa Claus. And I thought we'd successfully avoided all that with our kid, but then when he was five he started talking about Santa Claus. Where did we go wrong? :doh:

One of our customers to our surprise turned out to be a distillery in Antigua, we perused their wares and they had some very high end aged rums so we went down to the local govt. liquor store and they ordered us in a bottle. I forget what it cost but it was incredibly higher than even the most expensive standard rum on the store shelves. I still remember the first sip, I was completely surprised, nothing like any rum I had ever tasted before. It was criminal to mix it so we didn't. Very tasty. People's idea of rum is probably formulated early on from drinking some cheap crap they got someone to bootleg for them as wee lads. I know mine was.

Santa and the Tooth Fairy I'll give you, but the Easter Bunny has only recently taken off in the UK. It was always seen as an American thing (along with Winnie the Pooh having a Gopher for a friend - come on Disney, Winnie The Pooh is British and we don't have Gophers here in the UK).

ROTFL - we managed to sneak into our kids rooms ( the 11 yo knows anyhow ) as well as putting some stuff around hte lounge. My son has eaten chocolate this morning, and is totally off the show. It's gonna be a fun day.

Really ? We're in Australia and I grew up with the easter bunny. My mum is German and she grew up with it.

My teacher told the whole class when I was 7. My parents told me when I was 12, I think ( I was scared to admit I knew, I thought the presents would stop ). I agree with you, it's a harmless bit of fun, something that makes the world a bit more magical for a kid.

Any chance the old memory might be able to tell me the name of the Rum? I will not be able to afford anything pricey for a while but when I do, I would like to have something worthwhile in mind.

Our kids know the truth but we still pretend there is a bunny and santa. I tell them I never want to stifle their imagination or creativity so we have fun knowing it's a farse but it's a great farse and we really make the day right.
