Here's how the web filtering software at my company categorized a URL[^] that I'd tried to visit:

    Tasteless[^]!

Needles to say, the experience has left me rather humbled!

Try this one then. Have you ever wonder what the difference between brandy and sherry is? Just Google for brandy and sherry and you will be amazed. :)

Hmm... Thanks for that tip... Here's what OpenDNS has to say about tasteless[^] sites:

Sites that contain information on such subjects as mutilation, torture, horror or the grotesque.

          Who would've thought?! :sigh:

If you ping the site and get ip. Many times you can use ip in url to avoid web site you are interested in from being "filtered". Of course your company may have a reason to block it...

I like to call it Madras :) Haven't seen you around a lot here, but there are a lot of CP regulars are from Madras. We should meet up some time. Also, what's your name? I know a few Virtusians myself - do you know Kartik V, Madhubhashini, or Deepan S?

                          Cheers, Vikram.

You're in Madras too? Cool. My real name is Rajasekharan. And yes, I do happen to know Madhubhashini. She's in New Jersey now. And yeah, meeting up sounds like a good idea. Maybe we can organize something. I've posted a couple of articles on CP and am a bit of a lurker on the forums. I've always wanted to contribute more, but seeing the work of the likes of Josh Smith and Sacha Barber is a bit depressing you know - the kind of effort they put into it - damn! :-\

Dang! Flickr.com is blocked too! "Personal Storage" is what flickr is apparently about and that is of course bad for corporates. To be fair though, my company is actually quite liberal when it comes to internet connectivity. They generally try to not be in your way and even allow access to social networking sites like orkut and facebook! Oh well, no one ever said it was going to be a perfect world!
