Wrap up April 19 2011 and only using .NET 3.5. How lame is that? I expect it to be in .NET 8 CTP by that stage, running on Windows 12. Sheesh - if you're going to jump onto a bandwagon, at least ensure that it's actually going somewhere and that somebody hasn't stolen the wheels.

By 2011, the program will be able to rebuild itself with the latest .net libraries. All he needs to start is to teach the program the .Net framework *in it's entirety*, and give it the ability to observe human/computer interaction. After a month or so, the program should be able to take control of at least the computer it's on and the local network, and should be able to google for code snippets to find out how to do stuff in code.

Very lame. I've never know anyone to be able to accurately pin-point their release date to the day, 3+ years in advanced...

Actually, being a computer, it would be smart enough to interpret the general consensus of postings at CP and not even ask a question. It would simply skim the articles and grab only the snippets that it needs, leaving no footprints behind. In essence, the program would become the perfect CP user.

You'll quickly see the signs of a tireless machine, methodically learning C++* by asking questions, collecting responses, asking follow-up questions, etc. etc. It is a horrifyingly beautiful sight. *yes, of course it's learning C++. that's nothing... at least push the 8 mark... you have to get ever so close to that 1gram per hour "danger mark..." it's called Xtreme Coffee Drinking. ;P Actually, 1 gram per hour is really considered the danger mark, the danger of a heart attack goes up significantly, although it does all the way up to the gram mark, above the gram mark is the medical line someone drew in the sand.
