All he needs to start is to teach the program the .Net framework *in it's entirety*, and give it the ability to observe human/computer interaction. After a month or so, the program should be able to take control of at least the computer it's on and the local network, and should be able to google for code snippets to find out how to do stuff in code.

Actually, being a computer, it would be smart enough to interpret the general consensus of postings at CP and not even ask a question. It would simply skim the articles and grab only the snippets that it needs, leaving no footprints behind. In essence, the program would become the perfect CP user.

It's already doing better than that. Have a look around the C++ forum here. You'll quickly see the signs of a tireless machine, methodically learning C++* by asking questions, collecting responses, asking follow-up questions, etc. etc. It is a horrifyingly beautiful sight. *yes, of course it's learning C++. I believe he'll run into a bit of a problem here to be able to deliver by 2011, a catch-22 if you will. To meet such an aggressive deadline he'll have to troll CP forums and will be using the classic URGENT - PLZ HELP or some such plea and when he does he will get chastised and he won't be able to make his deadline! So how will he adapt to this situation....we'll see? Mike :)

True story: My sophomore year of college I stayed up all night cramming for a physics test. Before this I didn't hardly ever drink coffee. I drank a whole 10 cups in about 6 hours. Two hours after that I began to have side-effects. I began shaking pretty badly, then passed out while walking down the stairs from my dorm room. Luckily my test wasn't until that afternoon so I didn't miss it. I haven't touched coffee since.
