This belongs to the design forum when you banish the endless questions on hardware, VS, and what not to the respective forums. Sure, you could have posted this in the design forum, but something like "What do I name this?" is not inappropriate for the Lounge IMO.

Using it shows experience and literacy (and/or age, possibly - which also calls for respect). What it means? That has been the subject of much musing in the industry... as has its origins. Google for "jargon file" for one particularly well-written attempt at enlightenment (also discusses the possible relation to fubar).
