Pdf reader? - okay I get it FOXIT :)

A was using the latest Adobe Reader 8, and the memory usage of it it's just incredible. After a while it got over 500MB. So what pdf reader are you using? Any good one that has also select text functionality (it's a tick of mine to select the text while I'm reading it). I don't want to use a separate computer just to read pdf ;). The latest Adobe reader is a crap, but still missing the functionality to send emails
Foxit.

Foxit it is then :) The select text is not the best, but it's feels better than acrobat.

Foxit does the trick for me. I'm surprised no-one has mentioned it already!

I've heard really good things about a somewhat lesser known PDF reader. It's called Foxit.

I've changed my mind - I would use Foxit instead.

I personally use Adobe Acro<sounds of objects being thrown at head> ... eh, OK, I mean Foxit. More seriously, Foxit is real good for viewing, but suffers from some sligt problems sometimes when printing, and when dealing with cumbersome pdf files (embedded eps objects, or mandatory fields). But it makes it 99.9% of the times.

Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0.
So the creationist says: Everything must have a designer. God designed everything. I say: Why is God the only exception? Why not make the "designs" (like man) exceptions and make God a creation of man?

Do not feed the troll ! - Common proverbHTe other time Adobe AcroBloat really does make sense is when searching large pdf documents. A modeless sidebar with surrounding text displayed for results (similar to google searches) is infinitely better than a modal dialog with next/prev buttons.

I too use FOXIT and have a couple of other suggestions that might help. First, if you're required to use Acrobat, you can speed up the load time (and possibly the memory footprint) by removing unnecessary plug-ins: http://www.oreilly.com/pub/h/2347[^]. Second, I use PrimoPDF for creating PDFs from Excel spreadsheets, Visio diagrams, and even printouts of web pages: http://www.primopdf.com/[^].
