In the UK they can choose to wear it; in the muslim (for the most part) world they have no choice. It is, therefore, a bit rich to accuse the UK of oppression when they ar efree to do as they please; i.e. wear a tent and protest that they are being oppressed. Wonder what would happen if they tried to do that in Pakistan or Saudia Arabia? Death by stoning, perhaps? How very civilised and non-oppressive.

Adnan, While your statement is fair, the point here is that these Muslims *chose* to immigrate to a western country but refuse to abide by its rules. Imagine how it'd be if American women moved to Saudi Arabia and insisted on driving cars, not wearing veils and travelling with men? I am sure they'd all be sentenced to death.

Yes. It is a form of oppression. Oppression does not have to come from the government. It can come from within the home. The male members of Muslim society are known to be "overpowering" in their demands that women cover themselves. There have been a number of near accidents where I live because of Muslim women not wearing properly fitting clothing and it obscures their vision.
