I look up everything, but i'm good with Google - hence my mid-range tally.

I hope you take care of your fingers as well. I was a great typist once upon a time. My problem was that when I wanted to type quickly, I pushed keys more, and now I get pain if I type for longer than one or two hours. I use two pencils now (at least my fingers get better) and miss working with 10 fingers.

Let me start of by saying I love this forum and the topics discussed in the lounge. And find some of the members here as great and interesting individuals (leckey your ok in my books, however based on what I read in your blog, I don't think I ever want to be near you in a cash out lineup...) My question is how the members frequent this site so much. I tried to keep up with the discussions in this forum and either my eyes started giving out, or I wasn't getting work done at work! How do you people do it, whats the secret? (I added the RSS feed to a blog reader and that kept me from missing topics but keeping up with the lounge is a full-time job!)

Hmm. I just added 2,000,000 lines to my current project since we are using 3 big open source libraries (vtk + itk + qt) to do our 3D visualization. Good thing I only need to compile these beasts once per compiler version. But with this much code (a lot of it being templates) normal compiles (in Visual Studio) are significantly longer even with the faster machine I just got. I can fix this to some extent by using precompiled headers but I have not figured out how to do that in a cross platform way with cmake yet.

OMG - I agree with you... This site is a huge time waster even though I enjoy it. Honestly I don't know how some of these people do it, they must devote several hours each day. I know I will never be at that level, I just pick an occasional topic to reply on if it interests me. The problem is… I spend a lot of time reading other topics to see if its interesting. Whenever I get the daily developer newsletter, I am very hesitant to open it, knowing that I might spend 2 hours on something that was not the remotest thought in my mind.

That you might wear your gloves on the wrong hands? Push them out the car window? Sorry, I had to indulge my silliness.
