I used to enjoy photograpy, building models, word wood working and gardening. Now, I just hang out in the soapbox. :~

Aikido takes up most of my hobby time (to the extent that I'm having a dojo built into my new house :) ), other than that, reading, computer gaming, playing piano...

What do people here like to do when they are away from work? I like working with my hands, enjoying gadgetry, and traveling.

Yes, I was aware that you played an actual instrument... So how did you come to have one made for you? Did you go and get one hand made, or it was a gift? A custom?

A custom one, the wolf on the flute is hand-made and it is hand-painted, but I know almost no one who hand makes flutes completely at least the bore hole is machined, and most are lathed after that with hand-made details later. Anyhow this flute I was saving for, but didn't know what I wanted. I was talking with the artist, I had already bought three of his commercial flutes. He was discussing possibilities and I went to sleep, had a dream about a white wolf, he made the flute to match the dream after I told him. Worked out well, and my white wolf flute is still my favorite.

Working with my dogs -- obedience, field trials (mostly tracking) and showing... I had one male some years ago that grew up next to the keyboard... but he never got the hang of assembly...:-). I also spends/wastes some time on other people and their dogs. And there's also one pet project -- A program for dog clubs that handles all the stuff around obedience, field trials, rescue dogs contests -- that have been around for 10+ years now:) Cheers /Jonas

Mostly from the web. I put together quite a list of bookmarks from years of searching for information and parts. There's also a fun magazine called Robot http://www.botmag.com[^] And don't forget the venerable Nuts and Volts magazine: http://www.nutsvolts.com[^] If you're looking for something specific, maybe I can help you out. Feel free to email me any time....

I play saxophone, some games (Wii, XBox 1, PC) and currently am going to try out saxophone repairs... I've gotten an old soprano-saxophone which had been in it's case for 2 decades, which needs some work done... (complete overhaul) Oh yeah, read books (mostly while commuting), and also going to give musical arranging/composing a go in the very near future...

That's really cool. Mostly had been HO scale, been thinking about O scale now, and maybe G scale in the yard. My dad-in-law is a part of the Northeast Ohio Steamers and the 1-inch gauge they use looks really cool. Only if I had more yard :-\

I have an N scale, which I got for my 9th or 10th birthday. I'll probably have to clean the engines up to get them going again. I have around 20 meters of rails, I think, but some are broken (I was PLAYING with it as a kid), so I'll probably get around 10 meters. Well, I am actually thinking about selling it. But I'll have to repair the engines first, I guess.

I play also guitar - electric and classical, have children (3 daughters) and do kungfu. There is a lot beside programming :-) @Christian: This is for sure the best orientation for e-guitar. What are your favorite guitar players? cheers Hiro
