What do people here like to do when they are away from work? I like working with my hands, enjoying gadgetry, and traveling.

A teeny bit of woodworking, a ton of piano practice, and more programming (my midi sequencer) Oh yeah, and trying to get my son off his butt (and me off mine) - a little hiking and such :) http://shazware.com/piano/rig.html[^]

Gym workouts, Badminton, Chess, and Computer games. Too little time for me these days to do any of those things. :(

I play saxophone, some games (Wii, XBox 1, PC) and currently am going to try out saxophone repairs... I've gotten an old soprano-saxophone which had been in it's case for 2 decades, which needs some work done... (complete overhaul) Oh yeah, read books (mostly while commuting), and also going to give musical arranging/composing a go in the very near future...

I used to enjoy photograpy, building models, word wood working and gardening. Now, I just hang out in the soapbox. :~

That's really cool. Mostly had been HO scale, been thinking about O scale now, and maybe G scale in the yard. My dad-in-law is a part of the Northeast Ohio Steamers and the 1-inch gauge they use looks really cool. Only if I had more yard :-\

I have an N scale, which I got for my 9th or 10th birthday. I'll probably have to clean the engines up to get them going again. I have around 20 meters of rails, I think, but some are broken (I was PLAYING with it as a kid), so I'll probably get around 10 meters. Well, I am actually thinking about selling it. But I'll have to repair the engines first, I guess.

After work I'm riding my motorbike, playing beachvolleyball with friends (in summer only ;)) or just sitting around in pubs trying to solve the problems of the world with the help of some pints of ale :-D Many years ago a played E-guitar in a heavy metal band, but we were not very successful. Currently I'm planning a 3-week-travel through south-east-europe via motorbike. Maybe I will arrive Bulgaria at the Black Sea

About 75-98% of all programmers I know, spend their free time with more work or something, that keeps fingers busy: Console games(Wii/PS/Arcade), Instruments(Guitar/flute), Gadgets(fixing stuff, creating stuff). The reason for that: It's a good practice for fingers and usually pleasant for others. Myself: (GameCube/PS2/PC) Gaming, Playing Guitar, Photo and 3D Rendering.. but usually - solving other people problems with IT (additional money income ;) ). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't see much difference between piano player and programmer: they both requires precision and speed of fingers. Oh.. yea.. one difference: programmer can listen to different music, while piano player, only to what he plays himself.

What do people here like to do when they are away from work? I like working with my hands, enjoying gadgetry, and traveling.

Hmm . . . when i'm not working over time :sigh: & not coding for fun, and not fixing friends or friends of friends devices, I train for my ATPL (Transport Pilots License), play the wii, hike & bike, oh and having a few cold beers! :)
